TAYLOR TRANSPORTATION BUS INFORMATION
Unfortunately our school bus tracking and notification software isn’t going to work for our area. Please disregard any emails regarding School Bus Hub, as we will not be utilizing the system.
Our new policy for riders going to alternate drop-off is as follows:
Elementary K-5:
NO alternate drop-offs. We will no longer accept day-of or one-time changes to your child’s drop location. If you have a predicable one (my child goes to Grandma’s every Friday), or a long term one (we’re out of town for medical, my child goes to our friend’s all next week) we can accommodate those, please contact us for those situations.
MS/HS 6-12:
This age group is allowed to be dropped anywhere they’d like along the route, on 2 conditions: They notify the driver as they board, and their parents haven’t checked “no alternate drop-offs allowed” on their bus form. This can be altered at any time by contacting us.
If you have any questions, please FB message us, call/text Zach at 907-305-0206, or email taylorbuswrg@gmail.com
DONATIONS NEEDED!
EES is in need of SNACK DONATIONS!!
Individual packages of Goldfish crackers
Chewy Granola Bars are popular
Fruit Cups
Applesauce
Individual bags of chips
Cup Of Noodles
EES is in need of your excess plastic grocery bags. If you keep these and are getting over-ran by too many, we would love to take those off of your hands!
We are also in need of the following for our EES STEM Lab:
old DVD's and CD's
cellophane
styrofoam plates
take out food containers
solo cups
excess new office supplies (stapler/staples, scissors, sticky notes, rulers, clipboards, file folders, paper clips, pencils, pens, you get the idea!)
seed packets
string, yarn
beads
any cool recyclables!
We are still taking donations of gently used books for our Birthday Book cart!
EATS Garden
E.A.T.S. Wrangell School Garden collects eggshells and coffee grounds. There are labeled totes inside the fence of the garden area. Please leave eggshells in a bag in the tote; coffee grounds can be dumped in directly. You can also send these items in with your child. We will take your eggshells rinsed and dried really well, or here are directions for how you can help prep the eggshells before sending them in
EES Caring Closet
BOOKS
BOXTOPS
If you do not wish to set up an account feel free to send in your receipts (within two weeks of purchase) and we will scan them for you and then return your receipt. Each time a student brings in a receipt or you send proof that you've scanned a receipt your student will get to choose a prize from the boxtop store!
BOXTOPS provide an opportunity for EES to fund things that we may not normally be able to fund. Past BOXTOPS purchases have been playground equipment, the school greenhouse, playground supplies, and classroom resources. Thanks for your help!
Keep collecting those paper boxtops too. We will have another boxtop store in the spring.
CLASS PAGES
CLASSROOM TREATS/BIRTHDAY PARTY REMINDER
If you are sending birthday party invitations to school with your student to hand out, please make sure they are inviting their whole class. Also with covid protocols please make sure you send them in plenty of time so we can let them sit for 24 hours before sending them home.

EES PARENT CORNER
Has this happened to you?
You hear your child yelling from the other room: “Argh! This Lego piece doesn't fit!”
“What’s wrong?” you ask.
“I can’t get this part to fit!” they say super frustrated.
You examine the blocks (and instructions) and realize they made a mistake...about 5 pages back in the manual.
Uh oh, you think. They are not going to like this.
You say gently, “I think you misplaced something several steps back.”
“Do I have to take all of this apart?” they ask.
“Yes, so you can fix it,” you say.
And there it comes... the tears welling up in their eyes...
Helping children focus on learning from mistakes instead of ignoring them or giving up is a crucial life skill.
No one likes to make mistakes, especially children who struggle with perfectionism.
But focusing on learning from mistakes is so helpful to children who struggle with perfectionism.
With that in mind, you sit down with your child and help them tackle the Lego project again.
“Let’s retrace your steps and see where the mistake happened. This will help you avoid it next time.”
Your child feels better. They know you’re there to support them, even when mistakes happen.
For more ideas on how to help your perfectionist child turn around their mindset and start accepting mistakes, download the new parenting guide below.

WPSD COVID INFORMATION
START STRONG PRESENTATION
Alaska DHSS provided this presentation prior to the WPSD School Board Meeting on October 11, 2021.

EES COVID Q and A
What do I do if I receive a letter from EES announcing a Covid case in the school?
Unless you receive a letter saying your child is a close contact, please just be aware there was exposure and monitor your child for symptoms with extra diligence.
What do I do if I receive a letter from EES announcing my child was a close contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid?
If your child has been deemed a close contact, your child must follow quarantine protocols due to not being vaccinated. Two things can happen: Your child can quarantine for ten days and return on Day 11 from the day of exposure/notification of exposure, OR your child can test on day 5, 6, or 7 after Day 0 and return with a negative test result on Day 8 or after.
How will I know there has been a positive case at EES and/or if my child is a close contact?
We will notify you via a public health e-mailed letter that there has been a positive case and/or if your child has been a close contact. You may receive a positive case notification first, then if information is received that your child was a close contact, that would be in a different letter emailed as soon as we find that information out. Please make sure you check your email daily.
How will I know when my child can return to school at EES?
The EES Office can work with you on your child's return date to school. Please call 874-2321 with any questions or to talk through the situation. We are happy to help. Again, two things can happen: Your child can quarantine for ten days and return on Day 11 from the day of exposure/notification of exposure, OR your child can test on day 5, 6, or 7 after Day 0 and return with a negative test result on Day 8 or after.
What happens when my child has to miss school?
Please work with your child's teacher on work to do at home. If your child completes and turns in what the teacher asks for each day, we will mark your child present for distance learning. It is important to us to keep your child's learning program moving forward. Don't hesitate to let us know how we can be helpful.
What if my child has traveled?
If your child has traveled, you will have them follow the travel protocols for entering the community and in the WPSD Mitigation Plan. Here is that section:
Return to School After Travel Protocol:
Upon return to Wrangell, fully vaccinated staff or students should test, mask, return to work or school and maintain as much social distancing as possible until negative test results are received, as long as they are not symptomatic.
Upon arrival, unvaccinated staff or students should test immediately and again after a minimum of 5 days. Unvaccinated individuals should quarantine until they receive negative results from their second test, then return to work, as long as they are not symptomatic; or
Unvaccinated staff or students can remain untested and return to work or school after a full 10 day period of quarantine with no symptoms.
Untested children under ten years old travelling with a parent/guardian will remain in the same status as their parent or guardian.
Students and staff who participate in Wrangell School’s activities, follow WPS’s weekly testing protocols and mitigation plans during travel are exempt from the above items for in-state travel only.
WPS Sports and Activities teams will test upon return from travel events (Including in-state travel.)
Public Health says that if any student/adult has had documented Covid, then they do not have to quarantine for 3 months after recovery. If they get symptoms, they should still get tested the same as our regular symptomatic process. We will follow that guidance. Your child's school office will need a copy of the positive covid documentation on file. Please contact the EES Office or District Office for current information about protocol if your child has had Covid.
