RHHS Wildcats: News You Can Use

#LND - LeaveNoDoubt - August 10, 2018

Service Saturdays - community service at RHHS

I'm giving credit to our service-minded students, parents and community members for this new idea! In recent months, RHHS has had a number of opportunities when we needed help and asked for volunteers. Most recently, we had a number of parents and students come and help do yard work around the campus - our school has never looked better!

Service Saturdays will give us a chance to complete needed work around our campus and give teachers, students, parents, and community members the opportunity to come together to support RHHS. Each Service Saturday, a different student organization or athletic team will take the lead. This Saturday, I am excited that the RHHS Student Council is heading up our first Service Saturday this Saturday, August 11th, at 9am!

Everyone and anyone is invited to come and help us make RHHS better. We will be cleaning up the stadium and parking lots, as we expect a BIG crowd for our first game on Friday.

Students on the Obligations List are welcome to come and volunteer on a Service Saturday in lieu of attending detention. We ask that these students make sure they sign in with the teacher or administrator that is there on Saturday so we can give credit for this.

Signed forms required

All students were given forms in advisement this week that required parent review and signature. Students must return these forms. These forms must be returned no later than Thursday, August 16th to advisors. Any student who has not returned all forms by next Friday will go on the Obligations List until the forms are signed/returned.

Junior Class Ring Orders - Thursday, 8/16

On Thursday, Herff Jones was here and met with all Juniors about class ring orders. Students should have come home with this information. Representatives from Herff Jones will be on campus this coming Thursday, August 16 during lunches and again from 3-7pm to take ring orders.

School picture day: Tuesday, 8/28

RHHS school pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, August 28th. These will be taken during 1st block that day. Picture packets should have been distributed to students in advisement this week. You can also order pictures online by going to www.mylifetouch.com and entering the RHHS code: FT758004Q0

Safe school searches

RHHS will have regular safe school searches throughout the year. These searches are unannounced and the location we search is randomly chosen. Sometimes we will need to lockdown the school to search larger areas of the school, but most times the search area will be small enough that there should be little to no distribution to most of the school.

If you have questions about our safe school searches, please contact me.

Vaping and school consequences

Vaping is a concern across most high school campuses these days. Bryan County Schools student handbook outlines the consequences associated with using and/or being in the possession of vapes. First offense for this infraction is 2 days OSS and possible legal charges. Students' belongings are searched, and if they drive/park on campus, their vehicle is also searched. Finally, students found with vapes are placed on the Obligations List until they serve a day of detention or complete a Service Saturday.
