Evergreen Middle School is a community dedicated to lifelong learning and the development of healthy, thinking, caring and productive world citizens.

Principal's Message

Hello EMS Community,

I hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend. We are down to our last week of the first semester. I began to sense it last week as many students showed a sense of urgency by inquiring about missing assignments and make-up work. Don't forget that students only have three days of school this week as Thursday is a teacher prep day as they get ready for the new semester and Friday is a grading day. As a reminder, semester grades are permanent and are documented on transcripts. Please encourage your student to finish strong and make a final push to earn the best grade possible in each class.

Below are several photos from last week, as well as important information that will help keep you up to date with things happening around Evergreen.

Have a great week!!

Mr. Gulley

Evergreen Principal

HSD Message Regarding Student Transfers

Student Transfer Continuation Letters. Letters are being prepared for all students who are currently on an in-district transfer, inviting them to indicate their interest in continuing that transfer in the 2019-20 school year. Those letters will be sent by the end of the month. The priority window for in-district transfers will then be open from January 1-31, 2019. Applications received during that window for both new and continuing transfers in 2019-20 will be reviewed by principals in February. We will no longer ask for the resident school to release continuations; hopefully that will be a time saver this year!

Presentations in Mr. Jewkes' Social Studies Class

7th Grade Social Studies students gave presentations on ancient Egypt.

Monday's with Mox Video

Each Monday during Advisory, students watch an episode of Monday's with Mox. As most of you already know, Mox is our amazing School Resource Officer (SRO) who has taken on the task of developing weekly videos to engage our students in topics that are relevant to Evergreen. Our 7th grade Counselor, Carol Anderson, will be teaming with Mox all year long to create the videos. Click on the link below to see our latest episode of the school year.

When you look at attendance percentages, whether it is a school or individual, here is how it compares if you received a grade for attendance.

  • >95%=A
  • 93%-95%=B
  • 91%-93%=C
  • 90%-91%=D
  • <90 =F (Chronically absent)

So looking below at last week's attendance, we received one A and three Bs. Our goal is to reach the A level each day of each week. When students are here, it makes everything run more smoothly.
