A message from the Superintendent
Weekly Communication

Thursday, October 27, 2022
Greetings PV Families,
As part of the District’s efforts to further develop a sense of belonging and unity among all stakeholders in Perkiomen Valley, we are launching a “We Are Vikings” campaign! The campaign will highlight the diversity among us, and also our united commitment to all of our students. We are working on compiling a collection of photos portraying our students, parents, employees, and other stakeholders exclaiming “We Are Vikings.” Parents are invited to share photos in the same way they do when students are returning "back to school." You can print this We Are Vikings Sign or create a similar way to share this message in your picture. Individual photos, family photos, group photos…. all are welcome. We just ask that you incorporate “We Are Vikings” somewhere or somehow in the picture.
Pictures can be shared with us by emailing them to webmaster@pvsd.org by November 4, 2022. Thank you for your support and continued commitment to Perkiomen Valley. We are all proud to be Vikings!
Sincerely,
Dr. Barbara A. Russell
Superintendent
Shout out! Thanks to the PV Foundation for your ongoing support of our students and staff!
PV Foundation supported the Perk Up Cafe. This photo was taken after the student group and their teachers were recognized by the Board of School Directors in October.

Superintendent's Roundtable
Last week, the first Superintendent's Roundtable of the school year was held on the topic of Cell Phones and Social Media. The slides that facilitated the conversation can be accessed via the link. The discussion was informative and there were helpful ideas exchanged. As a school district, we continue to consider how we can guide our students in their cell phone use and social media presence. Administration looks forward to investigating some of the suggestions from the roundtable.
The next Superintendent's Roundtable is scheduled for January 11, 2023.
Educational Equity Task Force
The District strives to provide all students with a rigorous educational experience and extra-curricular opportunities that serve to secure a commitment to school, showcase talents, and promote academic success. PV is also working diligently to nurture inclusive school communities and ensure students feel a sense of belonging.
In an effort to strengthen these areas, administration is creating a task force to develop an action plan based on the language in Policy 832. This policy, entitled Educational Equity, serves to guide the District's work in the area of providing equitable academic experiences, opportunities and student success. The action plan that results will be presented to the Board of School Directors prior to June 2023.
We welcome your voice! Our desire is to create a diverse task force that consists of a variety of stakeholder representatives, teachers, administrators, support staff, students, parents, community, and business representatives. If you are interested in being a part of this work, please use this form to indicate your interest. The task force will meet several times over the course of this school year, in-person, during evening hours, beginning in November. Stay tuned for details!
Free Breakfast Program for ALL Students
As a reminder, Governor Tom Wolf announced free school breakfast for all students across the commonwealth. The Universal Free Breakfast Program will run through the end of the 2022-23 school year and is open to all students, no questions asked.
We are aware that some families may prefer that their students not participate in the free breakfast at school (in some instances last year, students were eating two breakfasts - one at home prior to school and one after arriving at school). Families may choose to “opt their child(ren) out” from obtaining breakfast using this form. If a family opts out, the student’s account will be flagged and breakfast will not be available to them. You may change this preference at any time by contacting our Food Service department.
Holiday Shop & Power Packs!
We are excited to announce we will be running the Holiday Shop again this year for families in need of assistance for the winter holidays. Last year we provided gifts to over 100 PV students and hope to do even more this year! Check out our Amazon wish list for ideas: https://tinyurl.com/powerpackshs. Items can be shipped directly to our shop at Evergreen Elementary School, c/o PV Power Packs, 98 Kagey Rd, Collegeville, PA 19426 or monetary donations can be made by check sent to PV Power Packs, 3 Iron Bridge Dr. Collegeville, 19426 or by PayPal at donations@pvsd.org with Power Packs in the memo line.
Make sure to follow us on Facebook @pvpowerpacks or email us with any questions at powerpacks@pvsd.org.
