November is a special month of thanks. First, on November 10th, we take time to acknowledge and thank all the military men and women who have served our country. On November 23rd we celebrate Thanksgiving. Life is not without its challenges; but, let us not forget that there are many things to be grateful for. ABE News
It's Fall Project time! This semester's topic is Advocacy Letter Writing. ABE students are writing letters to legislators to request their continued support of adult education and other important social issues. Letters are based on student research as well as personal stories. All students at CCAS are welcome to attend the ABE student presentations during classes on Wednesday, Nov. 15.
Congratulations to all ABE students who achieved a goal within the first 2 months of school! Here are some comments from our students about how Culver City Adult School and the ABE class is helping them:
- "This class has helped me to be more responsible and given me more open doors to begin a new, better life."
- "I am learning basic things that I have forgotten over the years. I am proud to say that I am accomplishing something that I couldn’t see myself completing before."
- "This class has helped me to write better. Now, I think it is possible to go to college."
- "Coming to school is helping me a lot with my kids’ homework, and I also feel more confident at my job."

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA - HiSET INDEPENDENT LEARNING CENTER (ILC) News
GRADUATE COUNT: 13
CLASSES COMPLETED: 35
Online Classes News - since many of our students arrive with some prior educational experience, starting this year:
· All online classes allow students to test out of a unit based on demonstrable knowledge
· Students who score 80% or more on a pretest are allowed to skip the unit being tested
· Online classes offer the same credits toward diploma as traditional classes
· Online classes are a good prep for college where online courses are common practice
· Students taking online classes may study in the classroom as well as at home, giving them more flexibility and increasing the possibility of faster graduation.
HiSET News - starting in November, we will be offering computer-based HiSET testing. The great advantage of being an online testing center on site is that students immediately know whether or not they passed the test.
