Hello Grizzlies,

I hope you all had a great short week this week.

On Thursday night we hosted the long-range facilities planning town hall. Representatives from our feeder elementary and middle schools where here to review the sight designs for all of our campuses. All community members that were present were able to get insight into how LPA Design Studios developed improvement plans for each campus. Last spring they met with the leadership at each school site to get input, then came up with design plans based on their inspection of our facilities and leadership input. We were also able to ask questions and propose additional ideas. The visioning session is part of the SRVUSD master plan for the next 15 years. If you did not have the chance to provide input, please consider taking the survey.

Thank you for taking the time to check out this week's update. Have a great weekend!

Respectfully,

Mr. Ball

Sportsmanship is key! (New)

The fall sports season is upon us! We host our first home football game tonight and I want to stress the importance of representing ourselves in the best way possible. We want to support our Grizzlies, and avoid negative remarks towards opponents or officials. Let's have a great time cheering on our Grizzly athletes!

CHS Parent Safety Team (New)

Safety continues to be our top priority and we have had several parents express the interest in volunteering on campus to provide more adult supervision.

Please respond to this survey if you are wiling and able to volunteer to help monitor gates for closure during the school day as well as supervising students exiting campus during breaks.

All volunteers must be cleared through Be A Mentor

Once you sign up, CHS staff will contact you to schedule specific dates.

LCAP Committee Representatives (New)

The District is launching the development of the 3-year Local Control Accountability Plan (2024 - 2027), a State required action and expenditure plan for educational programming aligned to state identified priorities. The committee membership will be composed of staff, students, parents and community members.

Recruitment for LCAP Committee Representatives is underway and will continue until 9/22. Representatives include staff (certificated and classified), parents, students and administrators. Next week we will launch the recruitment campaign on social media and post a message to our website.

Interested individuals should complete this brief survey. The committee will be limited to approximately 30 representatives. If interest is greater than available slots, selection will be based on ensuring a broad representation from across the district.

LCAP Committee meetings are scheduled for the following dates from 5:30 - 7:00 pm and committee members are expected to attend all meetings: October 24, 2023; December 5, 2023; January 23, 2024; March 19, 2024; May 7, 2024

Applicants will receive notification letters the week of September 25.

Learning Labs (New)

Learning Labs are now up and running!

The Learning Labs are an opportunity during our Tutorial period for students to be matched up with a tutor and get support with a specific skill. Students are identified by their teachers for this opportunity. Students can also sign themselves up. Interested students should speak to their teacher about the self-sign-up process.

We currently have Learning Labs in the following areas: Math, Science, World Languages, and a combined English/Social Studies lab. Labs are not subject specific, rather they are a place to host tutors and their assigned students.

Thank you to our Academic Boosters for their support with this wonderful opportunity!

Are you interested in theater? (New)

Is your child in drama? If so, become a Drama Booster member! Drama Boosters had their first meeting this week. If you’d like to get involved please email grizzlydramaboosters@gmail.com or check out their Instagram @calhighdramaboosters. The next meeting is on October 5th.

Senior Presentations (Update)

  • Seniors, come join our Counseling team during tutorial in the Theatre on Tuesday, 9/12, to learn about alternative post-grad options (military, job training, community college, etc.).

AP exams registration (New)

AP exams registration is well underway! At the end of August this letter was sent out to the community which explains the registration process.

Save the Date: Advocacy Day | October 27, 2023

Get ready for Advocacy Day 2023! We've all faced many challenges in our schools and communities recently. Recognising that, our focus this year will be on putting children and families first by encouraging connection, community, and civility. We are hoping to help our families and schools come together so we can all help our children thrive. Because after all... it's about the kids.

SRVEF Run For Education

The San Ramon Valley Education Run For Education is one of the staple events in our community, organized by parents and community members who want to provide some fantastic enrichment opportunities to our students and support our district educators. A portion of the funds raised when you register as a Cal High community member will return directly to our school. I'll be running the 10K this year, and I hope to see you out there on October 8!
