War of 1812
Facts of the War of 1812
The War of 1812 we took on the greatest naval power in the world. Andrew Jackson was Major General of the United states Army during the War, of 1812.
The capital building was burnt down by the British.
The treaty of Ghent on February 17, 1785, ended the war but left a lot of people suffering. James Madison was President at this time.
American System
Facts on the American System
James Monroe was the 5th President of the United States.
The American System was based on Taxing all foreign goods, Establishing another national bank, and constructing new bridges and canals in the west.
Henry Clay was a great supporter of the American System and based ideas off of Alexander Hamilton. New roads made it easier of the states to communicate becoming more united.
Cotton Gin
Facts on the Cotton Gin
The Cotton Gin was an invention that made it easier to get the cotton seeds out of the cotton; Which made slavery a bigger problem. Now that they could easily separate the seeds from the cotton it made it a more profitable crop, so Eli Whitney made an invention that help make more money but making slavery a worse problem.
