Positive Impacts of Professional Learning
The fundamental purpose of professional development is to improve student learning. High quality professional development deepens teachers' knowledge of content and instructional strategies, helps teachers understand how students’ learn, and enables teachers to apply new knowledge. Professional learning standards support school improvement efforts that link curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Establishing a comprehensive professional development plan with an aligned focus will improve teachers’ instruction and increase student learning.
