A Note From Mrs. Shook
I hope that your family had a wonderful break and I know we are all looking forward to another one soon. This can be a busy time for all of us.
My sixth grade students have started having lunch bunch groups with me on Tuesday. I can only meet with ten students at a time so if your child hasn't attended a session, they will soon! I am really enjoying talking to the students and getting to know them more during these sessions. We talked about what it means to be gifted and about how their brains are still growing. Did you know that a child's second large growth spurt happens when he/she is around age 12?
I am hoping to establish lunch bunch groups with my seventh and eighth grade students as well. I did create Google Classrooms for them, but there has been little response. There are topics and information that I would like to discuss with them so we will keep trying!
Eighth grade parents may find this chart helpful when thinking about high school options. In the spring, we will work with your child to create a four year plan for high school. This is especially helpful for our students who are currently taking high school classes.
Please know that I am resource for you and your child. If you have questions and/or concerns, feel free to contact me!
