Gilbert Public Schools Family Newsletter - April 14, 2021
Dear Gilbert Public Schools Parents and Families,
At this time of year, many of our families are busy planning for the summer. In this week's newsletter, you will find information on the wide range of summer school and summer camp opportunities GPS is offering this summer, including both in-person and online programs.
Of course, the school year isn't over yet, and we are so proud of all of our students as they continue to work hard to finish this year strong. Please read on and join us in celebrating some of the many student achievements happening in our schools every day.
It is important for us all to keep adhering to the various mitigation strategies on our campuses, including the wearing of face coverings. While the Governor did remove the general mask mandate, he did NOT rescind Executive Order 2020-51, which specifically requires: “All school districts and charter schools shall develop and implement a policy to require face coverings...” This includes students, employees, and family members while on campus. Thank you for your continued support with these important measures and for your continued support of your student(s), our schools, and our district.
Sincerely,
Shane McCord, Ed. D.

Arts Proficiency Diploma Seal Celebration
Congratulations to the 23 GPS students (Desert Ridge High and Gilbert High) who have earned an arts proficiency diploma seal through their involvement in band, drama, or dance. This is Gilbert Public Schools' first year to offer this state-approved recognition to our students. The program recognizes high school students who have demonstrated high levels of proficiency in the Arizona Arts Education Standards through personal expression and creative experiences in arts education programs at the time of graduation.
