Teachers are charged with the responsibility of enforcing student dress code in their classes as well as on campus. Administrators and other school personnel share the same responsibility. A student's conduct is related to his/her dress and, as a result, the school is directly concerned with the student's dress. The appropriateness of a student's dress for the school environment should dictate the choice of clothing and grooming practices. All students are expected to accept the responsibility to adhere to common practices of modesty, cleanliness, and neatness. Between regular school hours the dress code will be strictly enforced. There will be an added level of tolerance toward student dress at after-hour school activities. However, students at Leonard should never wear clothing or accessories of an obscene, lewd, violent, or vulgar nature while at school or at any school function. In addition, certain school activities require a certain standard of dress, and should a student choose to attend the activity, he/she will be expected to dress in a manner consistent with the occasion. If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school. If not corrected, the student may be assigned to in-school suspension for the remainder of the day, until the problem is corrected, or until a parent or designee brings an acceptable change of clothing to the school. Repeated offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct. Campus administrators have discretion about dress code compliance.Shoutout to Jaylen Duncan for being selected as our "Student of the Week"!
