Tuesday's The BIG Day!

We had an outstanding turnout for Meet the Teacher this past Thursday! We appreciate all of you who signed up and came at your appointed time. We hope that the format of this year's Meet the Teacher was helpful and that you were provided with clear directions to make the evening run smoothly for you and your child. If you would take a minute to complete this short survey on last Thursday's event we would greatly appreciate your feedback as we are always seeking to grow and get better!

Back to School Safety Measures

Our district is committed to doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our students and staff. At 4:00 p.m. Sunday, SDPC released it's Back-to-School Safety Measures with information about mask, social distancing, contact tracing, exclusions and more. The link to that PDF is below. If you have questions please contact Mr. Chapman by replying to this email or directly emailing him at

Are You a Returning Student?

All students who are returning to the school they previously attended last year must complete the Back-to-School Update in Registration Gateway. You should have received an email reminder from the district each week for the past couple of weeks that has your child's username and password information. If you are having trouble completing this update please let our office know at 397-2800. It is extremely important for us to have the most up-to-date information for your child. It is critical we have this information before the start of school.

Be Sure You Have Communicate the Following With Your Child's Teacher

  • Allergies (if applicable)
  • Transportation (How will your child get home in the afternoons?)
  • Specific Needs (Do they have medication to take during the school day? Do they have any physical limitations? Other pertinent information)

PCVA Chromebook Pick-Up

If your student is participating in PCVA this year, you can come by the office on Monday, August 2nd to pick up your child's Chromebook.

May I Walk My Child Into School?

We understand that if your child is new to DES or a PreK, Kindergarten, or 1st-grade student you wish to walk your child to class on the first day. Below is the guidance for walking your child to class.

  • PreK (3K and or 4K) parents may walk students to class from August 3-6 and August 9 &10.
  • Kindergarten parents may walk students to class from August 3-6.
  • First grade and new to DES parents may walk students to class on the first day.

If you plan to walk your child to class, you will need to park in the front parking lot and use the cross walk at the front of the school. Our staff will then guide or assist you where to go.

Afternoon Dismissal for Full Day 3K, 4K, and PM 4K

Parents of students in our 3K, full day 4K and Mrs. Lord's PM 4K class will dismiss in our bus loop. Mr. Chapman will send information out in a video to all 3K and 4K parents on Monday, but in order for us to dismiss them in the bus loop we MUST have all 3K and 4K parents NOT enter the bus loop until all buses have dismissed. We will have it marked off where you will stop until you are given the go ahead by administration to pull forward.

If a parent does not stop behind the marker or does not follow the process and directions from administration then the parent will be asked to go to back of the other car line (main car line) and proceed to pick up there.

Please help us by following the procedures in tomorrow's video and let's keep ALL Our Children safe!
