Lumberton Township School District
Monthly update
MEET OUR NEW ADMINISTRATORS!
From the desk of Dr. Colleen Murray...
Today is my first day serving as your new superintendent. I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working with each and every one of you.
It is an absolute honor to be here and I am humbled by this chance to be a part of this beautiful community with its perfect blend of nature, farms, neighborhoods, and businesses. As someone who likes to imagine a perfect school community, I was drawn to Lumberton because you share my values and priorities. For example, your STAR principles, love of diversity, and your community and future orientation.
I come to you with 24 years of educational leadership, as a classroom teacher and district administrator. My learning passions throughout those 24 years centered around topics to bring us closer to creating the ideal learning environment for students to thrive - while we have them and then beyond - well into their futures.
My desire to make an impact was inspired by teachers who gave me opportunities to use all of my talents. For instance, my best teachers were the ones who taught me about persistence, service, and creativity. They modeled warm kindness and high expectations and a clear belief in the growth mindset. As a result, I am driven to support all of our students on their paths through our district - towards bright and exciting futures.
To the students of Extended Day Care, Ashbrook Elementary, Bobby’s Run, and Lumberton Middle School - I can’t wait to meet you and see all of your great learning.
To the administrators, teachers, and staff - I want to first thank you for your continued passion and dedication to our students. I know we have so much work ahead because of the impact of cuts in state funding. We will tackle these challenges together and our challenges will bring us opportunities to mold the district in new ways - together - through shared leadership. I look forward to working closely with our admins, teachers, and staff, to listen to your concerns and ideas on how we can improve and support our students.
To parents, grandparents, and other caring adults in our community - the changes of the past few years have been trying to say the least. I want to assure you that at the center of every decision is what is best for our students' well-being.
Lastly, we have work ahead that will unite us more than ever as a district around shared goals. I intend to do everything I can to help us create updated strategic goals that are grounded in our core values. As your superintendent, I am committed to staying visible and listening to you regularly. I ask you to join me as we continue to build upon the values of excellence, respect, safety, responsibility, and kindness.
