Reflections From the Principal
I do hope to be at school tomorrow, but I cannot say for sure at this point. I will be in touch with everyone regardless.
Thank you all for your patience with me! I appreciate your support!
Have a great week!

Great Things I Saw This Week
Feature a Teacher! TWO this Week!
Mr. Dave Bolin
Years Served in the Corporation: 30 Years
Currently Teaching: PE & Health
“Coach Bolin always wanted me to do my best! No matter the situation, he always pushed me to do better. Mr. Bolin was a positive role model for me while I was in school and in sports.”
-Koby Pierce
“Mr. Bolin might not remember this, but I certainly do. My brake lines broke one day while I was leaving school (on my birthday) and Mr. Bolin saw me. He saw how upset I was and asked if everything was okay. He even checked on me the next day. I thought that was probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. He genuinely cares about his students.”
-Emma HancockMr. Tim Garbison
Years Served in the Corporation: 21 Years
Currently Teaching: PE & Health
“Mr. Garbison was always happy and he never had a negative thing to say. He would always say “Hi! How are you?” when you passed him in the hallway which made many of my bad days a little better.”
-Caitlin Rendon
“He constantly reminded my peers and me that he was an advocate for our class. We were, without a doubt, a hard class to handle, but he always told us how much he enjoyed teaching us and how much he supported us.”
-Devyn Warrick
#MustangMindset, SEL Coordinator
Within MTSS, the IDOE closely relates the behavior management and SEL. This is because a lot of the behaviors that we see in classrooms are usually less about the content and teacher and more about the lack of SEL competencies and coping skills that our students have. There was an article written recently about classroom management with SEL undertones. It was more of a list so it was a quick read, but it had a lot of good reminders about classroom management and she worded things in a way that challenged me as a classroom teacher. The article is called 10 Ways to Sabotage your Classroom Management. If you have a few minutes, I highly encourage giving it a read. As always, if you need anything from me, please don’t hesitate to ask!
Also, I have asked Mr. Cunningham to add a link on my page of the school website to a Staff SEL Resources folder. I am working on creating files with resources for you to have easy access. For example, I have created a Brain breaks/Refocus folder where I will drop lessons, activities, and other resources for refocusing your students in so you can have that at your fingertips. I will keep you posted as I get things added and updated!
