Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie
By David Lubar
"I put the notebook away for a while. But I couldn't get out of the habit of writing" (Lubar 277).
Right as he starts his freshmen year of high school, Scott's mother tells him that she is pregnant. Since Scott's big brother didn't help him at all when he asked for advice, he decided that he would start writing a journal to give to his younger sibling when it's their turn to ask him how to survive high school. Scott's first year of high school is nothing short of a disaster. He does pretty much anything he can to capture the attention of the prettiest girl in school, Julia, but nothing seems to turn out in Scott's favor. High school is a scary and confusing place for newbies, so all the while Scott is trying to find his place, he writes down his experiences for his soon to be younger sibling.

Praise For Sleeping Freshmen Never Lie
"... plenty of amusing, accurate observations about freshmen life, from the insecurities of first dates to the dangers of walking the hall between classes." ~Booklist
"A fresh, genuinely funny picture of an earnest yet hapless teen... A solidly enjoyable read sprinkled with laughs, puzzles, a few groans, some oh-I-get-it nods, and generally good geeky fun throughout." ~BCCB
"Lessons are learned, humor mixed with sadness is prevalent, and the bittersweet year comes to a satisfying end for both the reader and Scott." ~Voice of Youth Advocates (VOYA)
