Message From Ms. Appiah-McNulty
Happy Sunday, RMS Team!
I anticipate that Monday’s Parent Teacher Conferences will all go well. With a new process in place, I am hopeful that conferences will not be as overwhelming as they have been in the past. However, each experience we have provides an opportunity to check and adjust and do it better the next round.
PGP Reminder
Details are forthcoming regarding the 2019-20 Professional Growth Plans (Faculty Meeting). PGP's will be due by October 1, 2019. More information will be given to you later next week regarding mandatory training for new teachers and/or a refresher training for others on evaluation cycle. Stay tuned for more information!
Interim Reports
Please plan to have all grades entered in the system for printing by Tuesday of this week. If you need support on ensuring that grades are entered correctly, please email staff on our Resident Experts List to support you with the technology part of the reporting. Robinson Residential Experts List Ms. Passini (our counselor) plans to distribute interim reports by Thursday of this week. Please look for an email from her to inform you of the process.
PBIS CICO
Check-In Check-Out (CICO) is a program to support students in our building who need a little extra help managing their behavior. How can you assist a student if you choose to be a Mentor? CICO Referral Form
It’s pretty straightforward in its approach:
Students check in with an adult at the beginning of each day to be sure they are prepared for class and ready to learn.
Throughout the day, students check in with teachers and receive points on a card (0, 1, or 2) related to how closely they met school-wide behavior expectations.
At the end of the day, students check out with an adult who totals up the points.
Student data is maintained by turning in CICO completed forms to Ms. Kettle at the end of the week. Student will be rewarded on Monday, if they met their goal of 80% or higher for the week.
Students will be on CICO for 8-10 weeks and if it is not working, we will look for additional interventions to support their needs.
If a student is successful on the program, we will look to dismiss them and look at monthly rewards for maintaining positive behaviors.
If you we do it right, CICO will help:
Reduce problem behaviors
Increase academic engagement
Below is a copy of the CICO forms to be filled out by teachers to support students (also see referral link above). If you have a relationship with a student and want to be their Check In Check Out Mentor, please sign up next to the student on the Referral Form. Thank you for supporting our students, so they can become Senator STRONG!
