CLASSROOM UPDATE
Charlevoix Elementary School will be celebrating National Reading Month with a Shoot for the Moon theme!
To kick things off, the last week of February there will be a book fair in the library to earn money for new books. The fair will be open before, during, and after school and during conferences. The book fair is through McLean & Eakin Booksellers. Books purchased at their store and through their website can also benefit our school library all year, just mention Charlevoix Elementary!
Through March, keep an eye out for door decorations and Read a Button, Read a Hat, Read a Shirt, and Rayder Dress Up Days!

As we finish up publishing our persuasive pieces we will begin working on the Kiwanis Club Vandenberg Essay Contest. We will begin by researching some local charities. Once they have researched these charities the students will be able to pick one to write about.
In our novel study, Out of My Mind, Melody, receives a golden retriever puppy for her birthday. She is thrilled with her new pet and realizes quickly that they have a special bond. Also, she finds out that her mom is expecting a baby. This brings on some new fears for Melody. She wonders if her parents will have time for her and a new baby.
