Aspiring Leaders Program (ALP)
The 2017-2018 cohort will participate in seminar 5 this month. The focus is on Instructional Leadership so that the aspiring leaders will be able to identify the relationships among academic standards, effective instruction, and student performance as they are related to the School Improvement Plan. The December seminar marks the mid-point of this year’s program for over 115 teacher leaders.
Marzano/LSI PD
School-based instructional coaches and the District School Improvement Team will participate in a ½ day Marzano professional learning on December 20th called Teaming for Rigor. As teachers make the transition to student-centered classrooms, they need to know how to provide the support learners need. In this hands-on professional learning, school-based instructional coaches and district support personnel will deepen their understanding of strategies, tools, and resources to facilitate student academic teams. This professional learning enables these instructional leaders to continue to build a culture in which students are working together, actively engaged in their own learning, and monitoring their progress toward achievement of the standards.
New Teacher Mentors engage in strategic in-field coaching with lead mentors and The New Teacher Center program consultant to improve mentoring practices. Mentors receive feedback that informs next steps with novice teachers in our district.
