Washington High School’s dominant and memorable softball season ended with state championship on Friday afternoon, October 27. Playing in the MSHSAA Class 4 Championships at Killian Softball Complex in Springfield, Washington completed its historic season with wins of 16-1 over Parkway West in the semifinals and 3-1 over Helias in the championship game. Washington High School’s Marching Band, “The Pride of Washington” competed at the Bands of America St. Louis Regional on Saturday, October 28. The Pride competed against 65 other bands representing eight states is one of the most difficult competitions in the Midwest. Click here for the story.

Four Rivers Career Center held sixth-grade build days from October 9-13. Every sixth-grade student from the School District of Washington had the chance to visit the Career Center to learn about the different programs and opportunities available, and also participate in activities. The School District of Washington’s WINGS Educational Foundation inducted its 14th class into the Hall of Honor on Saturday, September 30, at the Washington Elks. The Hall of Honor was initiated in 2009 to recognize alumni, former educators, and community contributors who have shown exceptional personal, community or professional achievement. Warren Branch, custodian at Campbellton Elementary, is the October recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award. The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality School District of Washington staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Click here for the story.

The School District of Washington is excited to take part in the “STL Teacher Proud” campaign, put on by Education Plus, as an effort to highlight the amazing teachers who choose to serve the St. Louis community and inspire others to join the noble profession of teaching. The WINGS Foundation awarded 20 Early Bird teacher grants this fall (2023) and one Larry Tobben Early Bird grant totaling $4,466. Click here for the story.

Teaching Careers students Isaiah Nytes and Ryanna Huddleston have been elected state officers for Educators Rising. Huddleston is serving as the 2023-24 State President. Nytes is the 2023-24 State Secretary. Click here for the story.
