Mindfulness in Education: In the Classroom & Library
Mindfulness practice is scientifically proven to reduce anxiety, focus attention, enhance creativity, and foster healthy relationships. Educators around the world are embedding mindfulness strategies into their daily instruction and finding significant increases in their students’ metacognition, resilience, attitude, and well-being. In this interactive session, learn the science behind present-moment awareness; experiment with strategies to enhance your personal practice; and explore resources that support mindfulness education. Dress comfortably.

Mindfulness in Education: In the Great Outdoors
In 2005, author Richard Louv released “Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder.” This groundbreaking book challenged readers to consider the negative impact to individuals and society as children spend less and less time in physical contact with the natural world. In this session, we will examine some of the research associated with a nature-deprived childhood and explore ways to reverse this trend in our schools and libraries. Dress comfortably and for the weather.
