Happy Valentine's Day! Friendship Parties!

Hello everyone. We are in for some excitement this week. It's Friendship Week, Valentine's Day weekend, and Counselor's Week! You are encouraged to participate in the fun dress up days and let's remember to celebrate our wonderful counselors Jennifer E. and Veronica C.

With all of the excitement in the air, we must always remember our purpose...student learning. Let's keep the momentum going. Sara and i have noticed wonderful instructional strategies all over the building, especially during I &E time. Students are getting into their groups quickly, instruction is beginning within seconds, and everyone is engaged. Keep it up!

Now that we are well into the 2nd semester, be sure that the student work displays around the building are reflective of the current instruction. You are free to bombard the hallways and your classrooms with all of the wonderful student work samples being created. It gives everyone who walks into the building a sneak peek into the wonderful work you do everyday. I most enjoy seeing the photos of students happy, working, and producing quality work.

Our K, 1st, & 2nd grade staff will begin parent/teacher conferences soon. As progress reports go home this is a great time for 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade staff to make contact with parents about student growth as well. I will be sending home a phone message reminding all parents of activities they can do at home to help their children to be more successful in school.

This is a reminder that we changed the dates for the February staff meeting and leadership meeting due to STAAR security training. We will have our staff meeting this Wednesday (2/10) and our leadership meeting next Wednesday (2/17).

Lastly, remember that "unknown" district personnel will enter the building using doors other than the main entrance. They will see how much of the building they can access before being addressed by staff and escorted to the main office. We got this!

Thanks everyone and let's have a great week!

That's HILARIOUS! Send your funnies my way...

A first grade student asked about his teacher's watch. The teacher shared that it was a FitBit and all that it can do (tell time, monitor steps, heart rate, calories, etc.) The student said, "Wow! Well basically it's really stalking you!"
