4th Grade Reading Buddies
The Kindergarteners and 4th graders have been getting together to read on Friday mornings. The kids all look forward to time spent with their reading buddies!
Reading/Daily 5
The Kindergarteners have been working hard on their Daily 5 stamina this week. They officially met their goal of 15 minutes of uniterrupted Ready to Self time and we have now started to work on Work on Writing. Along with that, we completed our first handwriting lesson on the letter "Mm" this week.
Math
All students now know how to correctly form numbers 1-10! We have moved on to 3D shapes: cylinder, cube, cone, rectangular prism, and sphere. Students have enjoyed getting to explore the shapes and apply them to real world objects such as soup cans and ice cream cones. We also observed how the different shapes can roll, stack, and/or slide.
Science
We completed our chapter on living/non living things this week after discussing how plants and animals use air, water, and food. Our next topic of discovery will be how plants and animals grow and change.
Social Studies
This week we discussed leaders in our country and community as well as how and when we make decisions.
Next week we will discuss bullying. Please dress your student in blue on Monday in efforts to recognize and stop bullying!
