This week's Specialist Video: 6th Grade P.E.
Jump Rope for Heart with the American Heart Association!
Saint Mark’s is thrilled to participate in Jump Rope For Heart as we work together to raise money for the American Heart Association and learn how nutrition and being active can help us live longer, healthier lives. We are kicking off next week during PE classes and information is being sent home with each student. Over the next couple weeks we will be having fun in class learning about heart health and how we can help save lives.
Meet the Scare Squad and learn about their heart-healthy messages HERE
ALL STUDENTS can earn an official Scare Squad Wristband simply for registering online– no donation required. Fundraising is optional. For those choosing to fundraise, collect the Scare Squad members as you raise donations for Jump Rope For Heart. Once online, your student is encouraged to take a Health Challenge and then get started.
It’s easy to Get Started…
1. Register Online: Saint Mark’s Catholic School Jump Rope For Heart
2. EMAIL – Login to your HeadQuarters and use the email tool to ask friends and family for their support with a donation.
3. DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP and bring your monsters to life and fundraise on the go – Jump/Hoops app available for iPhone or Android. Share on Facebook, Twitter or by text!
Meet Finn – just one of our many friends who is counting on us!
Thank you so much for supporting our school and the American Heart Association.
Mr. Gorrilla, Saint Mark’s Elementary PE

Saint Mark's Track 2018
Saint Mark's Parents,
Track this year will start at Saint Marks gym for now, until weather can cooperate.
I have the gym reserved from 6:00-7:45 on the following dates:
Monday, April 23
Thursday, April 26
Grades 1-5 Cubs will practice from 6:00-7:00
Grades 6-8 Lions will practice from 6:00-7:45
Parents, please have children ready to run outside around the block, on the sidewalk.
If you can help watch at alleys for me that would be great (Parent volunteers are more then welcome!)
Water bottles are also welcome, water only please no sports drinks.
I am looking forward to another track season with Saint Marks and will have more information to come soon. We should be able to practice at SPA this year again, with this late winter the track may be thawed by May.

Grand Olde Saint Mark's Days
The weather may have us thinking otherwise, but the Grand Old Saint Mark’s Days Festival really is just around the corner!
Volunteers!
The online Sign-Up Genius pages are ready for you to claim your spot at the parish festival on May 18 and May 19. There are plenty of slots available from setup on Thursday and Friday, throughout the festival, to tear down on Sunday. Take a look!

No previous experience required!

Donate!
We can't make the games and booths a success without your help. Donations are a key part of many areas of the festival.
We are looking for donations of all shapes, sizes and values. All donations can be dropped off at the Parish Center between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
Following is a list of areas needing donations:
· Kid's Game Prizes: (price range 25₵ - $5) Bubbles, art supplies, balls, stickers, trading cards, hula hoops, jump ropes, lollipops, sidewalk chalk, small games and toys, Little Debbie lunchbox snacks…
· Kid's Bottle Bar: Bubble bath, sports drinks, bubbles, Hershey Syrup, shampoo, salsa…anything that comes in a bottle!
· Bingo Prizes: $5 or $10 gift cards to Target, grocery store, coffee shop, Trotter's or Saints or Twin's tickets. Cash donations also accepted.
· The Country Store merchandise: homemade or handcrafted items - jams and jellies, cookies or bars, jewelry, doll clothes, gift baskets…be creative!
· CCW Pie Booth: Pies of all kinds! Please bring your favorite pie to the CCW's Blue Ribbon Pie booth. Deliver your pie directly to the Festival on Friday after 5pm or Saturday after noon. Please call Becky Sabie at 612-729-0032 with any questions.
Fund-A-Need
The festival Fund-A-Need was created as a way for festival goers to show their support by contributing to an important project for the parish. This tradition started after the festival raffle ended in 2016.
This year’s Fund-A-Need donations will be used to convert the school lighting to LEDs and add occupancy sensors to the classrooms. This will provide the parish with substantial energy savings and better lighting for students. The total cost of the project is $30-35K. The resulting energy savings will provide a return on investment in 3-4 years.
