Friday Message from Dr. Glaze
We start this Friday Message with a change in TMS/THS student drop off and pick up procedures. Please view the infographic below for details. We want to thank our families in advance for your help to make the drop off and pick up procedure safe for all!
As we wrap up our first full week of the 2022-23 school year, we are excited to welcome a larger number of enrolled students to TCSC than last school year, including 30 preschoolers, 112 kindergarteners, 108 freshmen and 30 new transfer students to campus. We are looking forward to an incredible year of providing our students with extraordinary learning experiences in a culture of instructional excellence.
We have taken stock of where the district is at, the needs of our students and staff, and are ready to transform student lives and make memorable moments this year. We’ve had a chance to review and digest the recently released iLearn scores and are encouraged to see a steady post-pandemic rebound for the majority of our grade levels and cohorts. However, we know we still have work to do as we learn from our struggles, build upon our successes, and keep the positive momentum of student-focused growth and greater overall outcomes going strong.
This data is important in our efforts to improve instruction, student engagement, and monitor student progress and program effectiveness. We are personalizing pathways to better meet students where they are, regardless of grade level, to help target specific skills and set meaningful goals, especially in literacy and math. We will be supplementing our curriculum and applying new methodologies to help accelerate student learning to bridge achievement gaps while also challenging our high achievers.
In a time of record teacher shortages in schools throughout our nation, TCSC remains a destination of choice for educators. It is my pleasure to welcome our new educators, including seven newly minted and two IUK Resident teachers. The remainder are new to the corporation or new to their role. It is not lost on me that these individuals could choose to work at any school corporation, but they have chosen Tipton to start or continue their career in public education. Each one brings unique gifts and talents that contribute to our overall mission of “growing empowered, future-ready students, prepared for a lifetime of opportunity and success.” Welcome home!
