St. Michael Preschool News
Growing with God...
Dear St. Michael Preschool Families,
We love because He first loved us. 1 John 4:19
Next week, we will take part in the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. St. Michael Preschool will observe this week with fun activities that celebrate our school and our faith. Your child's teacher will communicate the specific activities for their class but a few highlights include a special visit from Fr. Michael and Fr. Noe to read the Parable of the Sower, seed planting for our Tower Garden, preschool cheer and joyful songs with Miss Karen, and a spirit week of themed dress-up days. We also hope your family will consider supporting our Catholic Schools service project in support of the Ronald McDonald House charity (details found in this newsletter). We thank you for your continued partnership and for providing your child with the gift of Catholic education. God bless you and your family!
In Christ,
Lisa Ciesla, Director
Starting Monday, we will be collecting donations for the Ronald McDonald House. Please consider joining our community to show support and help provide the resources needed when parents are caring for their sick child. If you are able, please donate some of the everyday household and personal care supplies needed at the Ronald McDonald House. Attached below is their wish list. We will be collecting these items Feb. 1-5. Thank you for your giving heart!
IMPORTANT HEALTH & SAFETY REMINDERS
PLEASE READ IMPORTANT REMINDER:
The health and safety of all our preschool families is very important to us. We ask for your continued partnership as we work together to keep our community safe. Please continue to keep us apprised of any health issues or concerns in your home that may be COVID-related. Closely monitor your family for any COVID-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new cough, or new loss of taste or smell. If anyone develops symptoms or feels unwell, please err on the side of caution and keep them home and notify your pediatrician and the preschool as soon as possible. Thank you!
If a child develops ANY of the COVID-19 exclusionary symptoms families have three options:
- stay home for 10 days from when symptoms first began, or
- get a negative COVID test, or
- get a note of alternate diagnosis from the pediatrician
If a child is sick with any NON-COVID symptoms, like a fever under 100.4, stuffy or runny nose, sore throat, vomiting, or diarrhea, our normal illness policy applies (24 hours free of diarrhea, vomiting, and fever without fever-reducing medication before returning to school). Your child must feel well before returning to school.
It is the responsibility of the parent/caregiver to understand and follow all health and safety protocols.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: ALL ADULTS on St. Michael Campus must wear a face mask when dropping off or picking up their child.

FAMILY FUN
MUSIC & MOVEMENT WITH MISS KAREN
Dear Families,
Thank you so much for all the lovely cards, kind words, baked goodies, chocolates, handmade gifts, gift cards and so much more!! I was completely overwhelmed by it and so very grateful for your generosity. I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas season surrounded by those you love. Thank you again for making mine extra special with your outpouring of love! I LOVE singing and dancing with all your children and look forward to doing that for the rest of the year!
For the month of February, we will begin with Catholic Schools week! One of my favorite weeks of the year! We will do our annual cheer (found below) and we talk about God's tremendous love for us! We will also enjoy music about winter, bears, friendship, hearts, and love. Here are a few examples of the fun we will have this month in music!
Preschool Cheer
We're fired up! (arms above head)
We're sizzlin'! (wiggle fingers in front of body)
We're turnin up the heat! (Turn knob)
And when it comes to preschools (clap hands)
St. Michael's can't be beat! (clap hands)
I will play the song "Happy" and the children will pick a heart with a body motion on it and will do that to the song-hopping, skipping, dancing, twirling, etc.
Going on a Bear Hunt by the Elbows
Skidamarink by Super Simple learning
My Little Heart by Kids Praise Company
The Valentine's Activity Game by Kiboomers
Friendship Dance by Renee's here
( NOTE: we will do this a little differently-kids will not be touching hands but will dance across from one another in order to keep inline with our COVID protocols.)
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or would like me to send you a song! Contact me at kallen@stmcary.org
God Bless you and your families!
Ms. Karen

The Paw Paw Trail in Bond Park will feature a Pop-Up StoryWalk. Starting at the Bond Park Community Center, enjoy the 1/2 mile woodland trail while reading Leaves by David Ezra Stein. This meaningful family experience was created by two of our very own St. Michael Preschool moms, Caroline Laski and Katie Richards. Thank you, ladies, for all your enthusiastic efforts to bring this wonderful month-long activity to our community!

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Closings and Delays: Our policy is to assess conditions on St. Michael Campus and the local area to determine closings or delays at the preschool. We understand this may not always reflect weather conditions in your area or follow the Wake County School closings or delays, so please use your discretion when bringing your child to school.
Parents will be informed of school closings and delays via our all call communication system through the primary phone, text message, and email provided. If this information needs to be updated at this time, please let the preschool office know.
On delayed openings, Early Arrival and Lunch Programs are canceled and children bring a lunch and attend from 11:00-1:00 pm. This later dismissal time may interfere with younger children’s nap schedules, so again, please use your best judgment in sending your preschooler on these days.
Join our parishwide consecration to Jesus through Mary! On Ash Wednesday, we will be distributing copies of 33 Days to Morning Glory, with the goal of consecrating ourselves to Jesus through Mary on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25.
We are currently forming parish groups to journey through this consecration together! There are optional weekly videos to watch through Formed.org, which you can then discuss with your group via Zoom. There are open groups for men, women, youth, and Spanish, or you are welcome to form your own group. To sign up and receive everything you'll need, visit stmichaelcary.org/33-Days
