Dear Parents, Grandparents and Caregivers in the OLC Community,

We extend a warm welcome back to all members of our school community, especially new students and their families. We have had a wonderful start to the term. During my visits to the classrooms this week, I have been delighted to see the enthusiasm of the students and how well they have settled back in after the holidays.

I would like to express my appreciation to everyone for making me feel very welcome. Members of the school community have been very friendly and the students are polite and respectable. The students are a credit to their parents and teachers.

Term 3 is going to be a particularly busy one. Please check our website calendar for upcoming and future dates. This calendar will be regularly updated.

Please see the letter below for recent information.

Building Update

Parents please note that the Sloan Drive pickup carpark will be closed for drop off on Friday 29th July as the builders will be delivering concrete to our school that day to put down the slab for the new classrooms.

Thank you for your support with this request.

BRLA 2022

At the request of the Western Australian Bishops, Year 3, Year 5 and Year 9 students in Catholic schools across Western Australia will take part in The Bishops' Religious Literacy Assessment (BRLA) from the week commencing Monday 25 July in Term Three. The assessment will be accessible to students only online.

The Bishops' Religious Literacy Assessment is a large-scale, standardised assessment that consists of Religious Education (RE) assessments developed and marked by the Office of Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA). The purpose of the BRLA is to measure student learning of the content in the RE curriculum.

The BRLA provides a ‘point in time’ snapshot of student performance in RE. Students’ knowledge and understanding of the content of the RE curriculum is assessed using a combination of multiple choice, and short and extended response items. Students’ faith is not assessed. The use of the BRLA complements the school based assessment programs in RE.

Should you have any queries regarding the assessment or your child's participation please contact me at: amie.meyer@cewa.edu.au.

With thanks,

Amie Meyer

Assistant Principal
