See details below if you're interested in joining the Morinville community at the MLC for the Morinville Military History Event.
Remembrance Day at MCHS
Please join us for our Remembrance Day Ceremony on Friday, November 3rd at 10:15 a.m. We would be honored to have parents, families, and guardians in attendance. The ceremony will take place at Morinville Community Cultural Center.
We also would like to acknowledge members of our community for their service and bravery. Please send photos of any family members dressed in uniform if you wish to be included in the Remembrance Day presentation. All emails can be forwarded to awagner@gsacrd.ab.ca by Friday, October 27th, 2023
Supporting families in need
MCHS is looking to partner with local companies to support our families in need. Proper nutrition is found to contribute to positive school outcomes, better behaviors and learning environments and increase brain functions. Here at MCHS we are looking to support our students' learning by being able to provide supplemental lunches and snacks to a small population in need. If you or someone you know would like to donate fresh produce, non perishables or even a monetary contribution, every ounce of it will go towards supporting the students of MCHS.
Thank you for considering, if you have any questions or concerns please contact Courtney MacDonald at cmmacdonald@gsacrd.ab.ca

SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice
With Halloween approaching, it can be fun to get scared, whether it’s pranking others or watching a spooky movie. However, some people feel fear every week with the dreaded Sunday evening. The “Sunday Scaries” is a new term that describes the feeling the day before going back to work after the weekend, especially as we look ahead at our week. Our teens can also get the Sunday Scaries–exams coming up, feeling exhausted from trying to fit in, having assignments pile up, working on extracurricular activities, and so much more. Check out the graphic below for some tips to combat those scary feelings, for both you and your teens.
Is your child experiencing test anxiety?
Starting Monday October 30th, a 7 week long test anxiety group will meet once per week during lunch hour. Using a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach, we will work on strategies to manage anxiety around taking tests to improve performance and marks. If you're unsure if this group is right for you, come to the first meeting and find out!
Counseling Corner
We'd like to take the time to mention that we offer a range of counselling services at MCHS. Whether it be for academic or personal reasons, students can get help. See the contact information below for details.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
MCHS Career Fair
For students who are still unsure about their professional future or simply for those who want to explore all options, career fairs are an invaluable way to get the information you need to prepare yourself for what lies ahead. MCHS will be hosting a variety of Trades & Companies to help inform students about requirements and skills needed for the Skilled Trades Careers in Alberta.
Don't wait for your future to come to you, go out there and seize it!
Student council events
Student Council is hosting a Costume Contest on Tuesday, Oct. 31st! There will be sweet prizes for the best costumes. We hope to see students and staff dressed up!
Dress up is encouraged by all staff and students for Halloween. There will be regular classes and then we will be having fun Halloween activities in both the class and the gym in block 4. There will be a costume contest for all students who wish to participate.

Beautiful bits of the bible
Psalm 89:15–16, NIV
Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, Lord. They rejoice in your name all day long; they celebrate your righteousness.
More Than a Broken Record
You are a spiritual creature having a physical experience. You are more than just your physical body. You have a mind and you have a soul as well. And that body, mind and soul has the ability to change the world while following just two rules.
