Should I look at a technical college or a traditional colleges??

This is a great question. Usually when we start talking about a students future we start talking about college. We may ask what college are you going to, what will you study, do you have any scholarships. . . . But while college/university is a wonderful choice for some it might not be right for your student. Technical colleges have a great deal to offer – I was just talking to a colleague who had three of her children go the college route but her senior has decided to enter a vocational college because he knows it will be a better fit for him. Traditional book learning isn’t for everyone. There is no guarantee that you’ll never open a book in a vocational college but a majority of the learning is done in a hands on environment that some students love. Plus technical colleges sometimes have smaller class sizes and typically are not as costly as a traditional college. Technical colleges will prepare you for a career and then they will also help you find a job in that area after you finish. So as you student thinks about the future . . . you might want to have some discussions about how they learn best, what their interests are and also the cost of the education.

Next week I’ll add some information about the military.
