We completed our Reindeer Games on our Taylor Tiger Morning Show this week. And the winner of an extra recess is.....5th grade! Congratulations! Kindergarten came in 2nd place and 4th grade came in 3rd!
This week on the morning show we will be hosting our Tiger Holiday Trivia Call-In Competition. We will be asking trivia questions about the holidays our students celebrate: Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, Ramadan, Holi and Diwali. If you and your family have another holiday you celebrate, email me and let me know. I will include some trivia on our morning show. We want everyone to feel included here at O.C. Taylor.
While we are having fun and being playful, we are still learning and being serious. Remember the quote by Dewey, "To be playful and serious at the same time is possible, and it defines the ideal mental condition.”
– John Dewey, American philosopherO. C. Taylor is celebrating academic success! Click here to you find our 2015–16 TEA School Report Card. The School Report Card provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®), as well as, as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The School Report Card for each campus can also be found on TEA's website at https://rptsvr1.tea.texas.gov/perfreport/src/2016/campus.srch.html.
In addition to the School Report Card, the more detailed Texas Academic Performance Report for our campus can be accessed online at http://www.gcisd-k12.org/Page/45546.

4th Grade Collected the Most Turkeys for the Turkey Drive! Parents' Night Out!
Fourth grade collected the most turkeys for our turkey drive! This means that your fourth-grade child is invited to come to school on Tuesday, December 13, 6:00-8:00 for Parents' Night Out! We will show The Secret Life of Pets and provide popcorn and bottled water.
Just a couple of notes.......
1. Mr. Kiehn, Mrs. Whisman, and Mrs. Knudson will be supervising.
2. This is for fourth grade students only. Please do not plan to leave other siblings.
3. We will be in the cafeteria.
4. Whenever you drop off your child, you will need to come with them to the cafeteria in order to sign them in.
5. Whenever you pick them up at 8:00 sharp, you will need to come to the cafeteria in order to sign them out.
Thanks again for your donation! We hope that this will be a fun way to show our appreciation!

O. C. Taylor Reminder
- If you have a change to make in the way you plan for your child to get home, you must email your classroom teacher PREFERABLY before lunch AND notify the office as well. Our teachers are teaching and do not always have time to check their emails. We kindly ask that you refrain from making any changes after 2:30 p.m. We have limited staff available in the office to notify teachers.
- We have one of the fastest dismissal car loops in GCISD with a record average time of 14 minutes. Thank you to all of the parents that help move your car all the way to the front of the line to pick up your child. Please do not stop midway to drop off or pick up your child. Also, please yield to any car that is trying to get out of the drop-off or pick-up.
Technology Tips: Webville Outlaws
LOOK-AT-DIS LOISE was the first week. POTTY-MOUTH PETE was next. Last week we learned about WANTA-KNOW WALLY web outlaw.
This week we are talking about MEET-ME MACK. Meet-Me Mack tries to convince you that he’s your best friend and wants to meet you some place. Remember to NEVER meet with someone you don’t know and always tell an adult if a “Meet-Me Mac” contacts you! It’s never okay to meet someone you don't know!
NetSmartz Kids has excellent information for students – videos, games, and more. The site is developed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and has age-appropriate resources to help keep children safe online as well as off-line.
Students, click here to get to know the web outlaws better.
