Van Brunt Elementary

November 2016

Dear Van Brunt Families,

I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather! The students and staff have been very busy this month. It was great to see so many of you at parent-teacher conferences. This was a wonderful opportunity to connect and set goals for the school year. I truly appreciate the positive partnerships between school and home. Open, honest communication is the key to our continued success.

The energy around learning and relationship building is impressive! Students are recognized for positive behavior during morning shout outs and throughout the day by staff members. It warms my heart to hear and see all of the ways our students are showing great character. As I am in classrooms and meeting with teachers, it's obvious that the academic and behavioral expectations are high. Students are asking insightful questions and teachers are always looking for opportunities to take learning to a higher level. Please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher if you ever have questions or are looking for different ways to support your child's learning.

I continue to feel honored to be a part of such an incredible team! As always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Lisa Sawyer

Van Brunt Principal

PTO Halloween Dance

Buddy Bench

Two of our girl scout students created a "buddy bench" for the playground. Students that are feeling lonely at recess can take a seat and other students will come and ask them to play. This was such a great idea and we are excited to use this bench on our playground. Thank you Lexi and Adriana!

Congratulations to our October POPS Winners!

Students were recognized for showing respect this month. We see this throughout the school as students show respect for themselves, for others, and for the school. Thank you to our families for encouraging your child to always be the best they can be! Some of our high school athletes joined our assembly to talk with the students about the importance of showing respect.
