Week of October 12th
PLEASE BRING CAMP FORMS :) THESE ARE DUE BY FRIDAY OCTOBER 16TH. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH QUESTIONS REGARDING THESE FORMS OR YOUR CHILD ATTENDING CAMP.
What's Going on in Class?
In reading this week, students will be discussing theme using a folktale. In grammar and spelling this week, they are working on plurals. We will be having a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) on Thursday, October 15th to reinforce these concepts. The skills we are working with this week are comparing and contrasting, main idea, and theme.
In social studies, students are discussing why people settle in specific places. They will be learning more about the two settlements, Jamestown and Roanoke. One of our skills for the week will be practiced when we compare and contrast the settlements of Jamestown and Roanoke.
In math with Ms. Craig this week, they will be multiplying decimals by whole numbers and multiplying decimals by decimals. Students will be working with multiplying with money, and looking at strip diagrams on Friday. They will review on Monday, October 19th, and will have a math test on Topic 3 on Tuesday, October 20th.
In science, they will be finishing up the unit on matter and its properties. They will be making solutions tomorrow and determining what is soluble in water. Then, they will be discussing such questions as, is air a solution? Does a solution retain the mass of both of its components? How can we separate solutions? Students will have a science review to complete as homework on Tuesday and Wednesday in order to prepare for their test. This review is bright yellow. They will review on Thursday, October 15th and test on Friday, October 16th.
