SEPTEMBER 2019

A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

The 2019-2020 school year has gotten off to an amazing start! Your children have done an outstanding job of getting back into the routine of waking up early and coming to school. Their schedules are set and it is hard to believe that we already have several weeks behind us. I look forward to a great year at HJH and also to getting to know your child, and hopefully you, a little better. We believe that every child can learn and this year our goal is to help our students grow. All of us have areas in which we can improve and our success is measured by the growth we all make. If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call or email us. Together we can make your child's time at HJH an awesome experience!

Have a great day,

James Gibson

Principal

6TH GRADE FIELD TRIP

We don't want our students to miss a great opportunity, however there will be a cost of $5 to cover admission. Students will turn in the money to their 6th period study hall teacher no later than Thursday September 12th. If this is not doable for you at this time please email Mr. Gibson directly or call the school. We do not want students to miss out because of the cost, but it is early in the year and we have not had time to fundraise enough to cover the cost. Thank you for understanding. For more information please see the event description below.

Tuesday, Sep. 17th, 9:30am

2100 South Mobberly Avenue

Longview, TX

6th Graders will attend a program called "How to Survive Middle School" presented by Robert Post. Below is a weblink to a short video that I hope you can take a few minutes to watch and see the faces, hear the message, and understand the importance of this show. The impact “How To Survive Middle School,” can have on students struggling with bullying (virtual or physical),

learning disabilities, test taking, self-esteem, and self-image can’t be overstated. It is a message

many of them need to hear and experience.

DRESS CODE POLICY

Please help us enforce dress code by reviewing the policy found by clicking the button at the bottom of the page. Students are doing a great job, we just need your help enforcing no skin visible 3 inches above the knee. They can have holes in their jeans but if there are holes above the knee they need to wear tights or something that covers the skin. Thanks for your help!
DRESS CODE

PLEASE HELP US BY MAKING SURE YOUR CHILD FOLLOWS THE DRESS CODE

TARDIES

Teachers are entering tardies in Skyward and students will be called to the office when they get three or more tardies. Being tardy to class will result in a loss of privileges and consequences like lunch detention or after school detention. Please encourage your child to get to class on time so they do not have to suffer the consequences.
