MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS 2022
Elections for St Francis de Sales School Board PARENT REPRESENTATIVES will be held this term.
This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers who have a genuine interest in the governance of St Francis de Sales School to make a commitment to help shape the education provided at our school.
We require a balance of skills and experiences and would like interested parties to be representative of our school community.
If you would like to find out more about the role of the board contact either Peter Chew (Board Chair) bot.chair@sfds.school.nz or Mary-Angela Tombs (Principal) principal@sfds.school.nz
For successful candidates there is training on offer from both NZSTA (New Zealand School Trustees Association) and Catholic Schools Education Services.
Nomination forms were emailed to all eligible voters last week. Please contact the school office if you did not receive an email.
Nominations close at noon Wednesday 3 August 2022.
St Francis de Sales School currently has 5 parent representatives, 3 proprietors representatives (these are appointed by the Archdiocese of Wellington), the Principal and a Staff Representative.

Piripono - Faithfulness
We are kick starting this term with the weekly value of Piripono - Faithfulness. Piripono at SFDS is having self-belief: doing what you say you will do, loyalty, sticking by your friends, accepting others, acknowledging God, doing the right thing whether people are there to see it or not.
“To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.” Luke 1:37

We had a great time at this event at the end of last term. We were really impressed with the way our older students supported and encouraged our younger students and also the display of sportsmanship and school values. A huge thank you to the parents who came along to help - it really was very much appreciated. All those who participated earned house points for their house and this will be announced at our next school hui.
The results of the Southern Zone qualifying races are below. Those who placed in the top two of each event will participate in the Southern Zone Swimming Sports on Tuesday 16 August at Kilbirnie Pool. The top four swimmers in the 25m freestyle will make up the relay team for their year group. The swimmers who will be attending will receive more information closer to the time.
