Principal's Message
Good morning Barbieri School Families,
Vice Principal Lev and I spent last Wednesday with our Hawk Helpers providing Kindergarten tours for prospective K families. It was great to be facilitating tours in person and have our long standing tradition of Hawk Helpers facilitating the tours. I want to send a special thank you to the families of our Hawk Helpers for bringing them back to school to help with evening tours and then picking them back up! We know every family has their own evening routines and carpool responsibilities and that this only added to your Wednesday to-do list. Vice Principal Lev and I are so grateful to you all!! MIL GRACIAS POR SU APOYO!
Please read the MCAS testing dates below. Vice Principal Lev created a calendar for all grades, areas being tested and testing dates. As mentioned before, we will also be providing reminders as testing dates approach!
Gracias a todos,
Maria

KINDERGARTEN TOURS 2023👏
🦅🦅🦅
Our 5th Grade Hawk Helpers did a FANTASTIC job providing tours for our families last Wednesday at 1:30PM and then volunteering their evening time and returning to facilitate tours at 6:30PM. When families want to learn about our school, there is no better way than to hear it first hand from a student. I heard them answer questions, point out details about our schools' procedures and processes and inform families about the details in the Kindergarten classrooms. I am so impressed with how much they remembered about their K year! THANK YOU TO OUR HAWK HELPERS!!!!
THANK YOU TO OUR FAMILIES FOR SUPPORTING US AND BRINGING OUR HAWKS BACK IN THE EVENING HOURS TO FACILITATE TOURS

Barbieri Drama Club Presents: HONK! 🦆
El Club de Teatro de Barbieri Presenta: HONK!
Barbieri Drama Club presents HONK! JR. a delightful re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen's classic The Ugly Duckling. After being ridiculed by his father DRAKE, his family, and his neighbors because of his odd, gawky looks, UGLY leaves the barnyard in search of happiness, only to be pursued by a hungry CAT. Lonely and afraid, Ugly must find his way home, with only his loving mother IDA searching for him. On his journey, Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters and finds out that being different is not such a bad thing to be.

MCAS Year 2023
During MCAS testing season please ensure that your child has a good night's sleep and full breakfast! Please remember that breakfast is available at school for all students! ALL STUDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE TO SCHOOL ON TIME!
STE- Science Technology and Engineering
ELA- English Language Arts

During testing ALL ELECTRONIC DEVICES ARE PROHIBTED. This includes cell phones and apple watches, etc. Please be sure that you discuss with your child that if they chose to still bring these devices to school they will need to give these devices to their classroom teacher/testing proctor BEFORE testing begins and they will receive them AFTER the testing session has ended. This is a non-negotiable. If any device is set off (rings, vibrates, etc.) during testing we risk having to invalidate tests.
Thank you for all of your support at home and for understanding!
Second Graders at Barbieri
Ms. Webber's class making a hat to protect our faces after being stranded on an island. They all had to test out materials and figure out the best material to absorb liquid, stiffness for the rim, and softness around our face.
The class loved it! They were engaged, talking quietly and fixing their hats. :-)
Message from Ms. Rebecca S., Wraparound Coordinator
Hi Barbieri Families,
I wanted to remind you all that Wraparound services are available to families here at Barbieri School. For those who are unfamiliar with Wraparound services, it is a family-driven, team-based process for planning and providing support and strategies for success. Through the wraparound process, the team creates a plan designed to meet the unique and holistic needs of the family. These services include connecting families to community resources here in the Metrowest area. Each wraparound team comprises the youth, the parents/caregivers, and community partners, who regularly meet to implement and monitor the action plan.
To receive these services, families must fill out a Wraparound referral. I will be attaching the link below to do so.
If you have questions regarding Wraparound services at Barbieri, please feel free to email me, Rebecca Salguero, at rsalguero@framingham.k12.ma.us or call me at (774) 410-3775.
Thank you all, and I look forward to connecting!

Hola familias Barbieri,

Read Across America MONTH!📚📕📗
Message from our Literacy Coach and Reading Teachers
Dr. Lauren Foley, Bilingual Literacy Coach
Ms. Luz Vallejo-Spillane, Bilingual Reading Teacher, Grades K-2
Ms. Margaret Fawley, Bilingual Reading Teacher, Grades 3-5
Hi everyone,
Read Across America falls on March 2nd. However, here at Barbieri, we are celebrating reading throughout the whole month of March!
As a school, we will see if we can get to 50,000 minutes of reading this month!
Since the character trait of the month is confidence, we will work on building confident readers! To celebrate this, our spirit day on March 31st will be to dress to impress and strut with your favorite book!
As a class, please keep track of the amount of time you are reading (read aloud, independent reading, etc.). Keep track on your reading thermometer! Every week, the minutes across the school will be tallied for a sum of the week.
At home, please tally your minutes on your calendar. Prizes will be given out to classrooms and individuals who are reading the most!
5th Grade Parents/Guardians ONLY
Ms. Kinsella returns this year with her puberty talk for all 5th grade families and this time it will be an in-person event! 5th grade team please share this information wit your families!
