Notes from Principal Dra. Cardenas
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Every morning, announcements begin with the Song of the Week chosen by our Music Teacher, Mrs. Dietlin-Anderson. Each day, different facts about the singer are shared before beginning the pledges. Listen to the song with your child and ask him/her what they remember about the singer. If they don't remember, give them the task to remember one fact they hear the following day. Having daily conversations with your child about their school day can help nurture trust and social-emotional skills.
From Principal, Dra. Cárdenas
Esteemed RHE Community,
Thank you parents for your participation in our survey last week! Your feedback means a lot to us and and we look forward to using your input in our upcoming meetings and initiatives.
This week we continued with chocolate sales, we wished our Bobcat Band the best with a morning send-off and we finished the week with our Veteran's Day Ceremony. The Veteran's Day presentation was a collaborative effort between 1st - 4th graders who worked on it as part of their Project Based Learning product. Each grade level was assigned a branch of the military. Students researched its history, uniform, and influence around the community. Grade level representatives emailed the final product to Mrs. M. López who made them available to our GT students. They collaborated to put together the final product. Thank you for the wonderful presentation and singing that made our RHISD Veterans feel extra special on their special day! And thank you RHISD Veterans for spending some of your day with us at RHE.
By now, the window for all Teacher-Parent Conferences has closed. All of our Bobcats are on a learning plan that best fits their educational needs. Parents, continue to help your child at home in the way that our teachers have guided you in doing so. If you have any questions and/or need assistance, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! We'll see you back on Monday, bright and early at school before 8:00am.
At Your Service,
Dra. Betty A. Cárdenas

We missed more of our students this week! We need to turn it back around to the high 90s as we were before. We know some of our Bobcats have been feeling under the weather. We hope they get better soon! Parents, please send your doctor's excuses with your child next week. If they did not go to the doctor, please send a parent note. Up to three are allowed per semester so that the absence is not counted towards truancy.
