Center Township Weekly Update
December 2, 2022
It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!
We are in full holiday mode at Center Township Elementary. The students returned after Thanksgiving break to an amazingly decorated school thanks to the hard working PTO elves. The looks on the students' smiling faces said it all. There is no better place to be to feel the holiday spirit than an elementary school!
Making Learning Fun!
No Power, No Problem
Students and teachers started the day Wednesday without power at our school. The lack of electricity did not stop or slow down learning thanks to the creativity of the CT teachers. In every classroom teachers found new and innovative ways energize the learning for the children.
Mrs. Karenbauer’s students thought it was exciting to use different colored flashlights. They were able to play matching games with the various colors and use the lights while writing their words.
Learning About Circuits
Fourth grade students are learning about circuits and electricity in science. They created matching games using their new-found knowledge of circuits for 1st and 2nd graders. The games included addition/subtraction facts, colors, shapes, holidays, sports, etc. Mrs. Grossman’s fourth-graders built circuit games. On the underside of the game the students used wires to make complete circuits that would cause a light to glow if the circuit was completed. Mrs. Hundertermark’s first grade students read the questions on the front of the games. Then they matched answers to questions. The younger students were thrilled to see the light turn on when they answered the question correctly.
SOAR News
We Had a Bingo
We had a SOAR 200 Club Bingo last week! Here are our most recent bingo winners. Students receive a Golden Ticket from a teacher or staff member for exceptional SOARing behavior. Students at CT SOAR when they are Safe and in control, show Ownership for their actions, display a positive Attitude, and demonstrate Respect & Responsibility. SOARing behavior creates a great environment for learning. It is a big deal to earn a Golden Ticket and receive the opportunity to be on the bingo board and win a prize.

CT is Bringing the Harlem Wizards to Butler!!
The world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit Butler Senior High School on Saturday, January 7, 2023 for an evening of great fun and fundraising. Doors will open at 6pm and game time will start promptly at 7pm. The Wizards will play a basketball game against a team of Center Township and other Butler Area School District staff. The event is a fundraiser being held by Center Township PTO and the CT SOAR program. The fundraiser will help raise money for a rock-climbing wall for the Center Township gym.
The energy at a Wizards game is electric. The laughter is infectious. The dunks are rim-rattling, high-flying and awe-inspiring. The hoop artistry, ball-handling, tricks and teamwork are mesmerizing. What really takes it to another level is the hometown participation from the kids on court experiences, to the teachers and other school district staff who take on the Wizards as the "hometown heroes". Besides cheering for their teachers, the kids are involved all night long. They will all have a chance to get on the court.
The experience at a Wizards game is the community and the school coming together for a night of good, pure fun and excitement and it's a fundraiser.
