Civil Disobedience and Mahatma Gandhi
Thoreau shares many similar beliefs with Gandhi. They both are adamant in rebelling against unjust law in their home countries. Gandhi against British rule in India and Thoreau against unjust American law. Gandhi did not agree with the ruling of the British empire in India, and so he acted out. In his mind, the British were very wrong in their way of controlling the Indians. Similarly, Thoreau acted out against the American Government. In his work "Resistance to Civil Government" or "Civil Disobedience" he says, "The only obligation which I have a right to assume is to do at any time what I think right."
