Message from the Director
Happy Spring to all our students, parents, and partners! It is hard to believe that May is here, graduations are just around the corner, and there is only one month of school left. It seems like just a few weeks ago was Christmas.
NCC has had another successful year in regard to students earning credentials, having work based learning experiences, completing internships, and so much more. We are proud of all their hard work. The students couldn't do this without their instructors and the many other members of the NCC staff. I am so proud of our students and staff! More details on this as we close out our school year.
As we move into our final month, I do have a couple of requests for all students and families. Lately at NCC, we have had some vandalism in bathrooms, which isn't normal for NCC. I invite any student to contact me if you feel the need to do this as I want to know how we can help our students be prideful of our facility.
Also, students that drive, I implore you to drive safe, all the time. We have had accidents on the roads, students running stop signs, speeding, heavy acceleration issues, and more. I get reports of poor driving habits from others on I435, I29, 152, 92, and roads here on the NCC / Platte County campus. We really don't want to have anyone get hurt.
NCC cares about all students and staff, as well as all our sending schools. Please slow down and follow the rules of the road, both in parking lots and streets.

Your response will make a difference by allowing us to discern the areas in which we need to improve and implement change. This survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. We ask that all parents complete: CLICK HERE!
NCC Building Project
Northland Career Center is actively working to rebuild in a centralized location in the Northland. This is thanks to a 30 million dollar state matching grant that was recently awarded to us. As a result we are in the beginning stages of raising the other 30 million needed to complete our project. Our capital campaign information can be found on our website in the Quick Links section.
Recent updates:
- Location of the new site is 95th and Platte Purchase, just north of the new Platte Purchase Middle School
- Hunt Midwest pledged 2 million dollars to the project
- AWS Golf Tournament on May 12th (see next section below)
- Fundraising efforts have begun
- If interested in donating or learning more about donating, please contact Brian Noller at 816-858-5505 Ext. 1777 or nollerb@platteco.k12.mo.us
The American Welding Society (AWS) is putting on a golf scramble tournament with all proceeds going to our NCC building project. A huge THANK YOU goes out to them for their support!!

SkillsUSA Career & Technical Student Organization
Wow! NCC students hit it big this year at the SkillsUSA State Leadership & Skills Conference.
There were 33 placement medals given to 46 kids in 36 contests. 14 1st place, 9 2nd place, 11 3rd place winners. There will be 10 competitors advancing to Nationals and three state officers (one who will be a post-secondary officer).
Nationals will be June 19-24 in Atlanta, GA.
To help students with the cost of their trip to the Nationals competitions, NCC SkillsUSA is hosting a fundraiser night on Monday, May 8, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. There will be a food truck selling pulled pork dinners for $8.00. The food has been donated by Anthony Floro, Twisted Taters food truck, so all funds go to the students.
Let the bidding begin! There will also be an online Silent Auction that will accept bids until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8. Click on the link below to take a look at the Silent Auction items and begin bidding. The items will be available for viewing at NCC on May 8, 5:30-7:00 p.m. If you, or know of someone or a business who would like to donate, such as gift cards, a business service, gift baskets, etc, please contact Kari Lasley, lasleyk@platteco.k12.mo.us Also contact Ms. Lasley regarding any questions about the auction site.
SkillsUSA Member Recognition will also be on Monday, May 8, at NCC. All members and family are invited to attend as we celebrate the year's successes. This will be held at 7:15 p.m. after the dinner.
Thak you for your support!!
