New Gymnastics Training School
Dedicated to Nadia Comaneci
Why Nadia?
Nadia Comaneci is very hard working, and she deserves a gymnastics training school dedicated to her. She started training when she was 6 years old! She never stopped training until she was 23 and retired. Nadia is amazing too! She is the first person in modern olympic history that was awarded a perfect ten! During those olympics, she won 6 other tens, 7 total tens! She is in the International Women's Sports Hall of Fame. She definitely derserves a gymnastics training school!
Nadia's accomplishments
Perfect 10
Nadia Comaneci won the first perfect 10 in modern Olympics history in the 1976 Summer Olympics. She won 6 other 10's in those Olympics too; 4 on uneven bars and 3 on beam.
All-Around Champion
Nadia is the youngest all-around gymnastics champion EVER. She was 14 when she won the title and now the age limit is 16 to go in the Olympics, so it is physically impossible to break that record.
The Olympic Order
Nadia was awarded with the OLympic Order (the highest award given by the Olympic Committee) twice. She is the youngest recipient, and is the only person to recieve it twice. She recieved it in 1984 and 2004.
More Awards
Those are not the only awards Nadia won. She was the 1976 BBC Sports Personality of the Year and the Associated Press's 1976 Female Athlete of the Year. She won 3 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal in the 1976 OLympics. In the 1980 Olympics she won 2 gold, and 2 silver medals. She also has been inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame. She will have the Gymnastics Training School for the Olympics dedicated to her here in New York City, where she met her husband.
