Weekly Report for January 27, 2023

Tiger Nation:

Come out and support the GHS Varsity Boys’ and Girls’ Basketball teams for their Senior Night games. The boys’ host Corona del Sol High School on Thursday, February 2nd and the girls’ host #1 ranked Desert Vista High School on Friday, February 3rd. Tip off for the varsity games is scheduled for 7 pm.

Why students who read daily perform better at school

Research has consistently linked reading outside of school hours to improved performance across all grades. Students who read independently have greater reading comprehension, verbal fluency and general knowledge than those who do not. They become better readers, score higher on achievement tests in all subject areas, and have greater content knowledge than their non-reading peers.

Congratulations to GHS Choir Students who were selected as members of the 2023 AZ All State Vocal Jazz Choir!

On 1/20/2023, Seiver Flippo took 2nd place in a singles Pickleball tournament at the 2nd Annual Legacy Classic presented by Cal-Am Resorts! Let's go GHS Pickleball!

Bristol Seimer and Major Turley competed in CAFT (Central Arizona Festival of Theatre) Regional Festival, their duo scene performance of Henry IV: A New Hope by Don Zolidis, was judged for Straight Superior rating. They were even asked to perform in front of all the schools. Kayla Iden-Selby earned a superior rating for her costume designs in Night of The Living Dead. Dylan (Kaelin) Coil also earned superior rating for her monologues of The Locker Next 2 Mine by Jonathan Dorf and Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. The whole Gilbert Theatre Ensemble Troupe #135 earned Copper Performance Rating.

As always, thank you for your ongoing support of Gilbert High School!
