January 2019

NVPAC is hosting Jocelyn Hewson, North Shore Schools Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, who will be offering a presentation that is a combination of both personal emergency preparedness, as well as a brief overview of what the schools have in place for emergency preparedness plans. It is important for parents and PACs to understand the different responsibilities, and also helpful for PAC representatives to understand the importance of the PAC for funding and organizing emergency supplies.

All parents, PAC Chairs, DPAC reps or designates are welcome. Please share with your parent communities. A poster is available for promotional purposes.

Throughout the year NVPAC receives many enquiries from parents regarding spending and allocations in the North Vancouver School District. Each year the NVSD has a budget process and NVPAC encourages parents to become involved in this process. NVPAC has the opportunity to provide their top three budget priorities at the April 2nd Finance and Facilities Public Standing Committee Meeting. Parents will be given five opportunities to be involved and provide their feedback:

  • attend the Finance and Facilities Public Standing Committee meeting on February 5 to hear staff present and discuss issues and opportunities related to the development of the 2019/2020 Preliminary Budget;
  • submit email comments to the NVSD between February 6 and March 15 to budgetcomments@sd44.ca;
  • attend the NVPAC General Meeting on February 28 for a conversation around the school district budget with a goal to developing our top three budget priorities;
  • PACs can forward their priorities to chair@northvanpac.org;
  • attend the Standing Committee Meeting on April 7 for presentation of partner groups' top three priorities.

We look forward to hearing from you..
