Library Renovation Updates
You voted, and the results are in! Look #2 won by a landslide!
While the majority of the construction will take place over the summer, the start date for this project is fast approaching. Please take note of the following important dates:
4/21 - Last day to check out library materials.
4/25 - All library materials are due!
4/28 - 5/7 - Collect remaining overdue materials and pack up the library.
5/8 - 5/9 - Move all materials to a storage location.
5/12 - RENOVATION BEGINS!
While the library is under construction, Ms. Cartwright and I will station ourselves in another location in the school (TBD). This is where all late books will be dropped off, Battle of the Books teams will meet, etc.
Library Contests in April
April is both School Library Month and National Poetry Month. In honor of these distinctions, we have a few student contests that we would like to promote. Handouts on all of these challenges are available in the library. All student participants will also be eligible to win Apollo library prizes.
The Library Challenge (sponsored by NPL): If students complete 10 of the 12 challenges by April 25th, their names will be put into a drawing for an ipad mini! NPL will be awarding 8 ipad minis to middle school students across the district.
The Bookmark Competition (sponsored by NPL): Student artists are encouraged to participate in this art competition! Students simply design an original bookmark that includes the following information: "Limitless Libraries: www.limitlesslibraries.org" (front); Name, Apollo Middle School (back). The grand prize winner will be invited to NPL for a behind the scenes tour and lunch. Entries are due by April 25th.
National Student Poetry Contest: Students simply compose and submit original poetry to www.libraryofpoetry.com There are 36 prizes, and the grand prize winner will receive $500! Entry deadline is April 30th.
