Jackson Family Weekly Update

Free and Reduced Meal Applications Due September 23

Each year we ask families to fill out a free and reduced lunch application. Jackson receives school funding based on these forms. This funding is calculated on October 1. Having your form completed by September 23 allows time for it to be processed to count for the October 1 deadline. This year, it was possible to enroll your child and not complete this form. We are asking that all parents please complete the form. You can access the form at this link: Free & Reduced Lunch Application. Last week, we sent a paper copy home with any student who did not have a Free and Reduced application. If you do not receive a copy in your child's backpack and would like a paper copy, you may pick one up in the office.

For the last two years breakfast and lunches have been free for all students. This is not the case this year. The full price for breakfast is $0.90 and the price for lunch is $3.00.

If you are not sure if you have submitted at form, or have any questions, or need assistance completing the form, please contact the Jackson office at 405-366-5884.

Important Information Regarding Afternoon Dismissal

Please be kind to the staff members who are working dismissal. In order to increase student safety we have implemented a requirement to have a rear view mirror hang tag for car riders or a pink parent pick up sign for parents who walk up to pick up their children. If you do not have a hang tag or a pink sign, you will be asked to go to the office to verify you are on the pick up list. I know there are many parents who we have known for years, however, we also have many new parents. We will still require EVERYONE to have a hang tag or a pink sign. Pink Signs and Yellow Hang Tags are available in the office.

Second Step Lessons

We want your child to be successful in school and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, children also need skills to take on learning challenges, make good decisions, manage strong emotions, and get along with others.

Please see below to learn more about what your child is learning next week and find guiding questions to assist with continuing the conversation at home. Families can also visit The Second Step Family Webpage to view full lessons and student handouts.
