Principal’s Message

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We are looking forward to seeing you this coming Monday and Tuesday for Open House and hope that you are excited to visit WCS. At both nights, we will introduce our faculty, discuss curriculum and programming, and of course, provide an opportunity to visit classrooms. In addition, we will have two brief presentations including representatives from the Windham PTA as well as School Resource Officer Greg Iworsky.

Now being three weeks into the school year, students have transitioned smoothly into new routines and schedules. Many students and families attended the annual Ice Cream Social and fun was had by all! In an effort to consistently improve our family and community engagement, we will include news from our faculty across the school as part of our bi-weekly messages. Further, and in concert with our school counseling program, we are working to create monthly student spotlights throughout the year to recognize students who truly go above and beyond in our "Choose to be Nice" program. In its second year, this program continues to reinforce the following themes:

  • Respect
  • Kindness
  • Acceptance
  • Teamwork
  • Honesty
  • Responsibility
  • Friendship
  • Patience
  • Courage

In a few short weeks, you will receive your child's updated New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System (SAS) performance scores from the 2017-18 school year. The State recently set proficiency bands for this new assessment that will appear on this updated report. We saw some tremendous growth in our first year taking this new assessment in English language arts, mathematics, and science, and will strive to create even greater advancement during this school year.

Have a great weekend!

Welcome Fall 2018!

Car Arrival Procedure

The protocol has been updated to help alleviate traffic congestion in the morning. At 8:20 a.m., we will switch to using both lanes of our back driveway to help address traffic that builds on Lowell Road, and we will close the gate at 8:32 a.m. When the gate closes, we ring the bell to line up students from Ready, Set Go and we need all vehicles to be clear of the driveway. Please plan accordingly and we thank you for your support!

Amphitheater Furniture

New to our Media Center has been the addition of amphitheater style furniture for students. This new approach to seating provides students with a 21st century area to read, write, and have conversations. The Greek and Roman architects really had it right! This is one of many steps we are making to transform this area into a Learning Commons area, which is an open-concept approach to collaborative learning. We envision this area to be the hub of learning for all students!
