School Report Card

The State of Texas 2014-2015 School Report Card for Jasper High School has now been released, and posted to the Jasper High School website http://k-12.pisd.edu/schools/jasper/index.htm. This is a report required by the Texas Legislature and prepared by the Texas Education Agency. The report provides information concerning student performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR), as well as information on student enrollment, class size averages, and financial expenditures. The information contained in the School Report Card is required by state law and is briefly described in the “School Report Card Definitions.” If you have any questions concerning the School Report Card, please let us know. Winter Formal

Your Winter Formal is almost here! On January 30th , Jasper presents: Starry Nights, City Lights! Tickets will be on sale January 25th through the 29th , during block lunch. The tickets are $10, but will go up to $15 at the door, so be sure to get yours early! If you are planning on taking someone from another school, you must pick up a guest form from the student center, or check the STUCO board outside of Ms. Mallory’s room. The guest form must be returned by Thursday, January 28th.

Feel free to dress as fancy as you want for the dance! Standard attire is a homecoming style dress for girls, and dress slacks and ties for the boys. Dresses may be strapless, or have spaghetti straps, but must still be in tasteful fashion. Join us for music, food, dancing, and a lot of fun! We can’t wait to see you at the big dance on January 30th!

Are you planning on asking someone to the big dance? Get creative and take a picture or video and tag it with #jhsask. The winner of the most creative ask will get two free tickets to the dance. The deadline for your #jhsask submissions is January 22nd . We can’t wait to see you there!

Schedule Changes

Counselors are taking schedule change requests for course level changes. There will be no elective changes granted due to class space. The last day to turn in a schedule change request is Friday, January 15th. Pick a form up in the counseling office. Forms require parent signatures.

Athletes Driving to PWSH for athletics

All students that are driving to PWSH for athletics must have a form filled out and approved. If you have begun driving throughout the fall semester or over the break and have not filled out the form, please come to the student center to pick up a form that must be filled out and signed by parents and coaches.

PTSA Meeting/ Student & Parent Presentation on Preparing for college

Save the date: January 21 Jasper PTSA will be presenting a session on how to best prepare for college. Bruce Richardson will be sharing valuable information about how best prepare for students heading to college. There will be a short PTSA meeting at the beginning of the meeting. This event will start at 6:30 and will be held in the Jasper cafeteria.

Princeton Review Practice Tests
Thinking about taking the SAT or ACT? Don't practice on the real thing! The Jasper Band Boosters and Princeton Review are sponsoring practice SAT, ACT, and PSAT tests at Jasper High School on Saturday, Feb. 6th. The tests are open to all students. Online registration is now open at https://jasperband.membershiptoolkit.com/Open_Forms.
You don't have be a band member to take the test. Registration deadline is Saturday Jan. 31st.

Movin' Out West

Dear Jasper Families and Students:

Please save January 14, 2016 to come to Plano West for the opportunity to visit with teachers and get a glimpse of campus activities. The festivities will begin at 7:00 pm and conclude at 9:00 pm. This is a come one, come all event open to all current Plano West families and students as well as all incoming juniors. Teachers of all courses will be available for a meet and greet and to answer questions about the subject areas. 10th Grade Parent Night is held in conjunction with Plano West Spring Open House, so that all students have the opportunity to explore course options as they begin making their course selections for the 2016-2017 school year. 10th Grade parents are also invited to attend one of two informational meetings presented by the Plano West Counselors and Administrators in the Plano West Theatre. The first meeting for last names beginning with Jasper families will begin at 7:15. The second meeting for Shepton families will begin at 8:00. Each meeting will last approximately 30 minutes. Additionally, those attending will have the opportunity to tour the buildings.
