From the Thompson Administration Team
Good Afternoon Thunder Parents/Guardians:
It has been a busy week here at TMS as students are preparing for end of the year classroom assessments, we held two amazing choir and orchestra concerts, and our PTO has been busy preparing for the 8th Grade social “Thompson Let’s Glow Crazy!” A huge thank you to our PTO for their support in putting this all together and to Heather Trask who led this amazing work!
Please note that the i-Ready Spring Diagnostic Reports for both Math and Reading as well as the Panorama Survey results are being mailed home, so be on the lookout! In addition, we have included a letter from Mr. Dave Chiszar, who is the Director of Assessment and Accountability, that explains the i-Ready diagnostic report and what is being included in the documents sent home.
Students have access to their i-Ready Personalized Pathway during the summer and this is a great way to maintain skills over the break. Should you have any additional questions about these reports, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor.
Have a wonderful weekend!

8th Grade Awards Assembly
Friday, May 26, at approximately 11:15 am - 12:00 pm in the main gym. All parents are invited, though please know that this is a fairly short awards assembly and not all students are individually recognized. We will inform parents of those who will be getting an award so they can be in attendance. Please note that we don't have a middle-school "graduation" ceremony - we leave that to high school - instead, having an awards assembly and some other celebrations for our students.
Picnic Lunch/Yearbook Signing/Outdoor Games
On Friday, May 26th students will have the option to order a BBQ lunch from our food vendor, OrganicLife. The PTO will provide desserts in conjunction with yearbook signing and outdoor games. We could use more volunteers to help and need more donations for outdoor games. Have a bag set we could borrow? Sign-up to help here.
A reminder from the school nurse…
Please do not forget to pick up all medications by the last day of school! Those medicines not picked up by an adult by May 26th, will need to be disposed of. The only medications that can be given to a student to transport home are those that are allowed to be self carried (Epi Pens, Pancreatic Enzymes or inhalers). If there is a self carry form on file for one of those medications, please remind your student to stop in and pick up medication before leaving on the last day. All medication orders must be renewed each school year. Forms are linked below.
Appointments for the required 6th grade and 9th grade physicals tend to fill up quickly and should be scheduled now! Please submit the completed physicals and/or immunizations to the respective school offices as they are done. They can also be emailed to diane.isbrandt@d303.org.The form is linked below and is different then the Sport Physical form. Forms are required to be submitted for review prior to the first day of school (August 14th). Dental exams are also required for 6th and 9th grade students. They can be completed within 18 months of May 15, 2024. A vision examination and form is also required for those students transferring into TMS from outside of Illinois.
The health office is closed during the summer months. I will return for limited hours beginning in early August. Please contact me if there are new medical concerns for your child or if your child will need a health plan at school.
Have a safe and healthy summer!
