Dress for Success Day for Red Ribbon Week

Unity Day

TOMORROW, Wednesday, October 20th we will celebrate kindness and acceptance. We are asking students to wear orange that day as a sign of their commitment to being kind and accepting of others. Please see the flyer for some activities that all of D 123 will be engaged in that day.

Red Ribbon Week

Starting Monday we will have D123 will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. This week is an annual event to remind even our youngest learners about staying away from drugs and alcohol when they are older. Research shows that getting this message across when they are younger can have an impact in making good choices as they get older. Please support our Red Ribbon efforts this year by participating in our fun spirit day activities throughout the week. Please see the attached letter with what the Spirit Days are for next week.

Drop Off and Pick Up

Please do not drop students off on the opposite curb from where school is and walking them across, especially on the 2nd/3rd grade doors. and the 4/5 grade doors. This holds up the line, but is also dangerous. I see it happen constantly and while we'd like to think that drivers are being careful when they drive around our school, it isn't always the case. We don't want your child to be in a tragic accident.

Please do not bring pets to pick up or drop off your child. We have children with allergies, but we have also had instances where the dogs have gotten loose and really caused problems. I love my dog too, but please leave them at home.

Please note the drop off locations and where you are allowed to park and get out of your car.

CoVid Information (new information)

Families will be notified if their child is found to have been in close contact with a CoVid positive case at school. If your child is found to be a close contact then they will have to quarantine for a period of time. More information will be given to you regarding your particular circumstances. Students may also be quarantined due to showing symptoms.

If your child is suspected of having CoVid or has symptoms that are associated with CoVid we can only accept a real time PCR test. Not an Antigen or Rapid test due to false positive results. Finally, we cannot accept alternate diagnosis anymore either. A student can have for example, strep AND Covid at the same time, so as of next week we have to have the negative Covid PCR test.

When students are quarantined, they will be given work for someone to pick up in the foyer of school. Students will get in invitation to a Homework Help Google Classroom to log on between 3:30 and 4:30 to get assistance from a Hannum staff member for work that they are struggling with. They just need to log on during that time and someone will be available to help them while they are quarantining.

SHIELD Illinois

Please check out the button below for information on opting in to having your child proactively tested for Covid 19.

The SHIELD Illinois program is a quick, simple, and non-invasive COVID-19 screening test. Students that have opted-in to the program will provide a small amount of saliva that is tested at a professional lab. Results of the test are then provided to families and our school district within the days following. The program offers students the opportunity to reduce or waive quarantine requirements in the event of close contact with a positive case or if the student demonstrates symptoms. You can opt-in to the program at any time by accessing Online Forms in Skyward Family Access. More information about the SHIELD Illinois program can be found at: d123.org/shield-illinois-testing-program
