Parent Project
Dear Parent,
Hamilton Southeastern Schools and Hamilton County Department of Probation Services have teamed up to offer the Parent Project® to parents beginning on February 11, 2020. The class will meet at 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for 11 weeks at Fishers High School.
If you’re interested in learning how you can prevent arguments with your child, improve their school attendance, and performance or prevent or intervene in alcohol and other drug use, then Parent Project® may be for you. Please read below for more information:
What is Parent Project®?
It is a 11-week program designed specifically for parents of strong-willed or emotionally intense adolescent children. The curriculum involves concrete prevention, identification and intervention strategies for the most destructive of adolescent behaviors (poor school attendance and performance, alcohol and other drug use, runaways and violent teens, etc.). Click here to watch a brief video on the program.
How does it work?
Parents meet one night a week for approximately three hours. Parents receive and work within an activity-based 216-page curriculum, “A Parent’s Guide to Changing Destructive Adolescent Behavior,” available only to program participants. Parent Support Groups are formed using the UCLA self-help support group model. The program is oriented toward behavior modification.
Why should I attend this class when it’s my kid who got in trouble?
It is important to recognize this program is not a “parenting class” designed to “teach people how to be better parents.” This program is designed to offer parents strategies in dealing with strong-willed and emotionally intense children. It also offers parents support and encouragement as they deal with difficult circumstances. This program requires 33 hours of classroom work – less than a single work-week for an opportunity to make a significant improvement in family relationships. We believe that every parent who has successfully completed the program at the Hamilton County Juvenile Services Center has walked away with something positive to show for their efforts.
If you would like more details about the program, please visit www.parentproject.com, or contact Rob Evans at 317-776-5856 or by email at rob.evans@hamiltoncounty.in.gov. The class begins February 11, 2020.

On Tuesday January 14th, FCI is hosting its' first home Girls' Basketball game against RSI, starting at 3:15pm. All students are invited, and encouraged, to stay after school to attend the game. It costs $1 for students to attend the game. This game is affectionately known as the "Falcon Frenzy" game. We are in need of several volunteers to help sell concessions during the game. We will have three concession stands open during the game - two in the gym plus the main stand near the cafeteria for our visitors. Our students must remain in the gym during the game. We are asking for volunteers from 2:30-5:30pm to set-up, sell concessions, and clean up. If you are able to help out at the Falcon Frenzy game, please sign up here: https://signup.com/go/PJVDkUn
Please contact Charron Wright at gcwright91@aol.com or 317-508-5244 with any questions.
THANK YOU to all the families that have helped make the 1st semester a great one for the students and staff! THANK YOU for your monetary donations, donations of food and candy for the staff, and for donating your time at all the fun events this semester - the Ice Cream Social, the Back to School Hangout, the Chalk Walk, the Book Fair, the Boys' Falcon Frenzy Basketball Game, and the Riley Classic.
