K-5 Title I Reading
Cottonwood & Sunflower Elementary
Parents Right to Know
Cottonwood and Sunflower Elementary are both Title I schools. Title I is a federally-funded, general education support program. The goal of Title One Reading is to provide extra reading help and instruction for struggling readers.
Both schools are transitioning from being target-assisted programs (only qualifying students can receive Title I services) to school wide programs. This means that all students can receive and benefit from supplemental Reading support from Title I teachers.
Each school receiving funds under Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) must develop a written school-parent compact jointly with parents for all children participating in Title I, Part A activities, services, and programs. That compact is part of the school’s written parental involvement policy developed by the school and parents under section 1118(b) of the ESEA. The compact must outline how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State’s high standards.
The USD 368 Learning Compact is below. Because we are transitioning to the school wide programs that allow for all students to receive services, we are required to ask that all families sign the compact regardless of your child's reading ability.
You can sign electronically by clicking the link below for students at each building. You will need to sign for each student attending Cottonwood and/or Sunflower.
