EV Staff News
April 27, 2018
The following is a rough draft of what the current thinking is regarding the 2018-2019 school year. I will do everything I can possibly do to support what you do in the classroom. My priority has always been to remove the barriers and distractions so you can focus on the important work you do- teaching children.
This has been an unprecedented year in many ways. This is an amazing staff and we will create a thriving learning environment as we have always done for our students. Take care of yourselves and one another. #sisepuede
much love and respect, maite
We are looking into 2/3 and 4/5 clusters. This will allow for 6 to 7 teachers per grade level to lower student numbers. First grade will have additional personnel as well. We are working out the details.
Specials and Grade Level Planning
In lieu of specials we will have planning time on Wednesdays from 1:40 to 3:30. Gen, Kevin and I will continue to participate in the meetings to help remove barriers and provide support. EV PD will take place every few weeks to offer support for instruction. Grade Level topics will include:
- Intervention & ELD support
- Social Emotional Support
- Planning for Readers, Writers and math
For the 2018-2019 school year we will have 1.5 to 2.0 interventionists. These two positions will work together to provide support for Focus Learning/ELD as well as small group pull out/push in.
The following items will be included in the Cowell grant:
Teachers College PD
Office clerk 2 hours
The staff secretary position has been eliminated as well as the Academic Coordinator position. There will be a SOM and health tech all day. With a school community liaison for a portion of the day. The former AC position will now be an intervention position. The intervention position will include many of the same components as now however some aspects of the job will need to be removed. The SOM position will be a combination of what is currently in place with additonal duties that the staff secretary has performed. This is a reduction in office support. As always we will do our very best to support the needs of students, staff and families.
We have been accepted into this summer institute along with the other elementary schools in the Valley. Janine, Chris, Gen and I will be attending. It is June 11 to June 14, 2018.
